Harness racing driver Jacob Duggan will make his racetrack return in Hobart on Friday night.
Duggan drove a double at the last meeting he contested, at Carrick Park on Australia Day, before being involved in a thoroughbred trackwork incident the following day, which resulted in him spending time on the sidelines.
“I drove a double at Carrick, and that was a good day, then the next day, I was on my way to the hospital in the back of an ambulance,” said Duggan.
“I did a L3 compression fracture.
“I have had some appointments here and there and plenty of physio, and everyone has been happy with it. I have taken my time and just done what the experts have said.
“I have been doing a bit of trackwork and building back into things,” Duggan said.
Duggan has two drives on the Hobart card. Both are prepared by his father, Adrian.
“Emer finds an even field (in race six, the Morey’s Tours Pace), and she sort of has got to have everything go her way and have a bit of luck, and if she does, she should be there about, and Five Star Shark (in race eight, the Prydes Easifeed Pace) loves the mile, and if he can find a position, he should still be kicking strong at the finish,” said the driver about his chances.
Jacob also trains Rock The Tableau in race seven, the Good Friday Dual Code Meeting 18 April Pace (2090m), with his uncle Ricky booked for the drive.
“He and Ricky have been going well.
“They didn’t get much of a look at them last start, but they have been racing consistently of late, so I decided to leave him on,” said Jacob.
The eight-race card commences at 17:50 and will be shown on Sky Racing 2.
