Season 2 of the Harness Racing New South Wales TAB Carnival of Cups series will culminate with a blockbuster music and racing package at the historic Penrith Paceway on 15 March.

Multi ARIA award-winning rock act Birds of Tokyo will return to the harness racing arena to headline the trackside entertainment. They have previously headlined the inaugural TAB Eureka and will make their Carnival of Cups debut in Albury in February.

They will be supported by sibling trio Sheppard who lit up the stage at last month’s Carnival of Cups meeting in Young.

Sheppard have agreed to return to the Carnival of Cups stage for one final performance before they head back to their new base in Nashville and onto an extensive European tour.

Fresh from her performance at last weekend’s Inter Dominion grand finals at Club Menangle, Sarah McLeod will also be part of an A-List line-up wrapped around the race card.

Carnival of Cups alumni Brooke Supple and Sydney band Fathers Favourite – fronted by Mia Hewitt – will warm up what promises to be a massive crowd for the free but ticketed event.

The music will complement a huge race program, highlighted by the time-honoured Renshaw Cup.

Depending on results at upcoming Carnival of Cups meetings in Tamworth and Albury, the Jason Grimson-trained, Cameron Hart-driven Swayzee will be racing for a lucrative prizemoney bonus in that race.

If he wins in both Tamworth and Albury, Swayzee will be racing for a million-dollar bonus in the Renshaw Cup – making it the most lucrative purse for a standardbred in the Southern Hemisphere.

In any case, following consecutive victories at Parkes and Young, Swayzee will be racing for bonus prizemoney at each of the next three Carnival of Cups meetings. One more win would earn a $250,000 bonus, two wins is worth $500,000 and victory in all three would trigger the million-dollar bonus.

Tickets are sure to be in high demand for what will be one of the biggest nights ever staged at the Penrith track.

It is free to attend but you do need to register for a ticket.
