The horses will be taking centre stage on and off the track when Australian music icon Daryl Braithwaite headlines the Carnival of Cups meeting in Tamworth on 17 January.

As part of the official launch events on the opening night of the world-renowned annual Tamworth Country Music Festival, Daryl will spearhead a blockbuster line-up of performers engaged for the free all-ages event.

Local favourite and emerging country star Lane Pittman will be part of a stellar supporting cast that will light up the trackside stage in between races.

Chart-topping sibling trio The Buckleys and Golden Guitar female artist of the year nominee Tori Darke will also feature on what is sure to be a memorable night at the Tamworth Paceway.

Popular Tamworth solo-performer Kyle Cartner will round out an epic line-up of entertainment.

The Carnival of Cups will kick-off a massive fortnight as the Tamworth Country Music Festival lights up the region.

For Daryl Braithwaite, it will be a return to the Carnival of Cups stage after his memorable performance on the opening leg of Season 1 in Cowra.

He will again be bringing his long list of hits that have become staples of the Australian music landscape for the past few decades. Of course, that will include his signature tune The Horses which has been the catalyst for impromptu racegoer choirs forming across the country.

“We’re thrilled to have Daryl joining us again for the Carnival of Cups and to be taking his set to a different part of the state in front of one of our most passionate racing audiences,” HRNSW Chief Executive Peter Buckman said.

“Of all the performers we engaged in Season 1, Daryl was certainly one that people still talk about so the idea of creating new memories for our racing patrons is very exciting.”

“This is a major occasion for Harness Racing New South Wales now that we are officially part of the Tamworth Country Music Festival so it was important to us that we assembled a high-calibre list of entertainers befitting of this iconic and world-recognised event. There is no doubt that has been achieved with this line-up of outstanding musicians.”

The music offering will again wrap around a night of high-class racing, highlighted by the heats of the Golden Guitar and the annual Tamworth City Cup.

Today’s announcement aligns with the ticket schedule established for the Tamworth Country Music Festival. The Carnival of Cups is again free for all ages but you will need to register for a ticket to attend. Free tickets will be available on www.carnivalofcups.com.au on Monday, 8 July.
