Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: OLIVIA ROSE (10) was slow to begin and settled a clear last in the early stages before sprinting quickly in the back straight and peaking on her run when ninth at Melton last week. She was a big winner at Geelong on December 20 so she is worth another chance. ETIZ AMODEL (1) was runner up after trailing the leader at Melton last week and is likely to end up being in the same position again from the inside draw. She is suited to competing over the sprint distance and is worth thought again. WICHITA KANSAS (11) returned to winning form with a victory over Salsboy in a mile rate of 1.57.6 at Maryborough last week. This race is of similar standard so he is worth thought again. BLUE MIKI (6) battled on well after enduring a tough run when fifth at his latest attempt and is not without a chance.

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: WRITTENINTHESKY (1) had every chance after trailing the leader last week but the winner Alfredjohncrusader is a handy type and the mile rate was quick (1.54.9) so she is capable of going one better from the inside draw. ASMILEANDAWINX (2) has been down on form recently but she performs best when she can lead over sprint distances so she gets her chance to improve under these conditions. CITYROCKSTAR (9) followed through from the inside of the second line and trailed the leader when second behind Thinkfast Runfast at Melton then followed with another second behind He’s Olly, where she again found the position behind the leader. She is unsuited to being drawn on the second line but must be considered as a winning chance. MAJOR DRAMA (6) is stepping up in class but has never raced better considering she has won her last three starts with the latest being in personal best mile rate of 1.54.5. She is a fast beginner and is sure to make her presence felt.

This is a race of similar standard so he should be competitive again. HARD ROCK ANGEL (5) won her Maiden event with ease at Terang then followed with a handy fourth behind Tunbridge at Melton, where she finished well from the second half of the field. She is racing in good form and is sure to have her admirers. DICKO DIXON (1) is drawn to receive every chance and was placed against similar opposition at Geelong two starts ago so he cannot be left out of calculations. BEACH HEAVEN (8) is a very risky beginner but she has a lot of ability and could show up without surprising.

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: SHE REALLY MATTERS (8) gained a nice trail and sprinted quickly from the 400m when a big winner in a slick mile rate of 1.54.3 at Melton last outing. A repeat performance will see her going close to winning again. CALYPSO MISTRESS (1) set up a genuine tempo and was run down late when fifth behind Cinquanta last week. She is usually competitive under these conditions and is no stranger to drawing an inside alley so she must be considered as a winning chance. IMAGINATION ORO (6) won three races in succession at the end of her last campaign and should be ready to strike peak form after having two starts back from a break. She is a tough type and is worth an investment. SILVER MYSTIQUE (4) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and is not without a chance.

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: TIGER BAND WAGON (7) will appreciate a drop back in class from his recent performances and should prove hard to beat. His two placed efforts behind Triple Eight and Tango Tara recently are a very good form pointer for this event. CLASSIC ANGELINA (1) ran her best race for some time when she worked home well for third behind Wattlebank Arnie at Melton last outing. She is a speedy mare and is perfectly drawn so she is worth a ticket each way. VEE EM GEE MACRAY (5) is a speedy mare that finished third behind Just As Well at Bendigo two starts ago. She struck trouble at Melton last time out and is worth another chance. CAPTAIN PINS (6) is a tough type, which was narrowly beaten behind Twisted Bliss at Bendigo on December 04. He is capable of figuring in the finish against this class.

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: MAJOR BERT (6) was heavily supported and ran a big race after being headed off at the start when second at Melton three starts ago, followed with a second behind the handy performer Frugal Fare at Shepparton then was severely checked on the home turn at his latest attempt. He is racing in good form and deserves to break through for a win. SCRITTORE (7) is a brilliant beginner and is a good chance of finding the lead despite being drawn on the outside of the front line. He led from the same draw when a close second behind Lorimermajor on January 14. REALLY SMARTIE (5) ran a much sharper race at his second start back from a break when a fast finishing second behind Clives Girl last week. He should be reaching his peak form and is worth a ticket each way. VAN SHARD (4) was placed against similar opposition at Maryborough last week and is not without a chance.

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: JANIEBQUICK (2) finished off well for third behind Jilliby Giddey at Terang last outing and should continue to improve with the benefit of racing. She is perfectly drawn and strikes a suitable assignment now. HAPPENSTOBABEACHBOY (1) performed well at the trials prior to his debut performance and has more ability than his three starts do suggest. This is his best draw to date and he should receive every chance so he is worth an investment. RIDDLEMETHIS (5) has been placed in two of her past four attempts and worked home well behind Balladoro three starts ago so he must be considered as a winning chance. SCATTERSHOT (7) is yet to be placed in ten starts to date but he is a possible improver against this class.
