Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: KYVALLEY PICASSO (6) gained a nice trail but finished off best to defeat Avant Guard (won since) at his latest attempt so he warrants respect. PRETTYBOY HARRY (8) is a lightly raced trotter with ability and was resuming since March when a dominant winner at Yarra Valley, where he sprinted fast from midfield. He is awkwardly drawn but should go well. SOSOMAJESTIC (10) has been freshened since a fourth at Yarra Valley in April. He won at his first two starts and is versatile so he must be respected LIZZIES SON (1) is resuming since December but will be fitter from his latest trial second behind Bitta Irish Luck. He is a fast beginner and is drawn to go well.

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: TIGER BAND WAGON (8) didn’t finish the race off as expected when fourth at Terang but he was first up from a break and without a trial so he might be a lot sharper from that performance. He follows out behind the tough pacer RAKAJED (1) and will prove hard to hold out in the run to the finish. RAKAJED (1) raced without cover and went down fighting when a brave second behind Big Boy Mal at Ballarat. He is perfectly drawn so a bold showing is expected. MONGIANA (5) finished off well for a game second behind the smart pacer Ghost of Time last outing. He is versatile and looms as one of the leading chances again. MY ULTIMATE SKEETA (9) is a former New South Wales pacer, which recently joined trainer Julie Douglas. He has the perfect trailing draw and should be finishing off nicely.

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: KIMCANDO (6) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and should be competitive. She was recently placed four times in succession and her latest fourth was behind the smart pacer Miki To Success. RISE ABOVE ALL (10) missed out last outing but he will appreciate a significant drop back in class for this assignment and should give a better showing. EPIC ERNIE (4) is a fast beginner and has performed well at the trials since his latest tenth. He led throughout at a Bendigo victory three starts ago and is a good chance of finding the lead again here. IFYOULOVEMELETMEGO (1) hasn’t been at her best form recently but she drops back into a more suitable grade and is drawn to trail the leader over the sprint distance so she is capable of showing improvement.

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: SOHO AMERICANO (3) is resuming since a second behind Drama Chick in a Consolation of the Bathurst Gold Tiara. She was the runner up in three of her four starts during her last preparation and she won a trial at Maryborough last week so she must be rated highly. ALIFETIMEFORLIVING (1) showed plenty of tenacity on her debut after looking under pressure on the home turn and coming again in the straight. She is a talented filly and is worth following. CROCODILE SOCKS (5) has had an extensive trial campaign and has shown very good early pace. He won his latest trial by a large margin so he cannot be left out of calculations. SOHO MARGARITA (2) and TENMINUTES (4) are both capable of showing up without surprising.

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: SOHO EMPIRE STATE (2) settled three back on the markers, was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off solidly when a game second behind Silver Pistol at his debut. He is a juvenile taking on older horses but he appears to have a promising future. KITSUNE (9) is returning from a stint in New South Wales and should be competitive against this line up. He recorded a mile rate of 1.57.8 when he scored at Goulburn in March. YA BOTTOM DOLLAR (11) is racing consistently and looms as one of the leading chances. He was driven aggressively to find the lead and was a game winner at Melton two starts ago. OZZIE CORKA (6) has a lot of ability when he is able to put it altogether and G B BRAVE (10) ran a slick last half when he scored at Ballarat two starts ago.

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: AETOS DYNAMIS (10) is resuming since December but he is a handy horse when at his peak and he won a trial at Maryborough last week. He was placed in the Wagon Apollo Classic two starts ago so he appears to be well graded against this field. THAT’S DUDLEY (6) finished third behind Berriesandcherries in a much stronger race at Shepparton last outing. MAC FLICK (2) finished off nicely when third behind Argyle Rocks at her debut. She performed well at the trials prior and looms as one of the leading chances again. GATESYS MATE (7) missed out when resuming but was competitive against strong opposition during his campaign prior so he is worth thought. KYVALLEY MISTY (8) and ALDEBARAN MARCUS (9) both scored at their latest attempt and are capable of showing up without surprising, despite rising in grade.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 5

SELECTIONS: AETOS DYNAMIS (10), THAT’S DUDLEY (6), MAC FLICK (2), GATESYS MATE (7)

SUGGESTED BET: AETOS DYNAMIS (10) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: JOHNNY SIX KIDS (9) was very good at the trials prior to his first up second behind Argyle Rocks, where he endured a tough run. He is a lightly raced 3yo with ability and is capable of going one better now. STARTEDASAWHISPER (3) performed nicely at the trials prior to a debut fourth, where she led out then took cover. She should have benefited from the experience and is worth a ticket each way. DESTRIER (1) is resuming since a second behind Perfidious Sue ($1-65 fav) in August 2023 but will be fitter from a recent trial fourth behind Amalia Pearl and she is drawn to give a bold showing. MANDA KYVALLEY (7) ran a good race for third behind Designer Vici at Melton when resuming and is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,7

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: VINCE LOMBARDI (9) was showing a lot of promise at the trials prior to his first three attempts and he strikes a suitable assignment now. He was placed behind Byrneside Boom in a National Ratings 54 event last outing so he appears to be well placed against the maiden class. MARLO MAREAU (1) has been placed in five of her past six starts and deserves to break through for a win. She showed a bit more gate speed at her latest attempt and was able to kick on well for third so she appears to be hard to beat from the pole position. AIM TO PLEASE (2) is a first starter for trainer Craig Turnbull, which won a recent Shepparton trial and must be kept safe. SMOKESCREEN (6) had excuses after enduring a tough run last outing was placed in a similar race prior. He has claims along with NELSON BAY (10), which is still learning but has shown some promise at the trials.
