Shepparton, Tuesday 19 November

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: GOOD TOBE LOCKSLEY (5) is a versatile pacer, which endured a tough run and battled on well for third behind Big Sledge Hammer last outing. He has performed consistently since returning from a spell and deserves to break through for a win. EMILY VINCENT (7) is a speedy mare and didn’t have the best of luck when a handy finishing second in fast time at Ararat. She is widely drawn but should run her usual honest race. CHIRRIPO (10) might find this race to be a little easier than her recent performances and should be finding the line strongly. ANIMADO (1) should be suited from the pole position and COUNTRY ROCKSTAR (2) has the early speed to be prominent throughout.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely early leader), 1,5,7

SELECTIONS: GOOD TOBE LOCKSLEY (5), EMILY VINCENT (7), CHIRRIPO (10), ANIMADO (1)

RATINGS: 5/ 7,10/ 1/ 2/ 8

SUGGESTED BET: GOOD TOBE LOCKSLEY (5) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: ICANMOTOR (10) gave the leader a big start and there was a lot to like about the way he got to the line at his latest second so he is capable of going one better here. He won under similar conditions at Kilmore on October 10. AMBER ALERT (1) is perfectly drawn to suit her racing pattern and should give a bold showing. She worked out of the gate early then was shuffled back in the field mid-race when she didn’t have the best of luck at St Arnaud last week. TEX GOES BANG (7) only just failed to peg back Glens of Tekoa at Maryborough on November 06 and is usually competitive against this class so he is worth an investment. GO GEORGE GO (6) is a tough type and has claims along with SILKY SMOOTH EXCUSE (2).

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3

SELECTIONS: ICANMOTOR (10), AMBER ALERT (1), TEX GOES BANG (7), GO GEORGE GO (6)

RATINGS: 10/ 1,7/ 6/ 2/ 9

SUGGESTED BET: ICANMOTOR (10) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: JUST LIKE NUGGET (5) is a first starter for trainer Kate Hargreaves, which sprinted home nicely to win a trial at Maryborough on Sunday and should be competitive from his good draw. MAD PUNTA (8) has been runner up in three of his past four starts and ran a very cheeky race for second behind Zenario when resuming. He is awkwardly drawn but is ready to break through for a win. MCWIZARD (7) is improving with every start and finished off determinedly for third at his latest performance so he is worth an investment. CMON SHARKY (2) possesses early speed and has the barrier draw to be prominent throughout. There are numerous debutantes in the event so the betting market could be the best guide.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 4,5

SELECTIONS: JUST LIKE NUGGET (5), MAD PUNTA (8), MCWIZARD (7), CMON SHARKY (2)

RATINGS:5,8/ 7/ 2/ 1,3,6,9/ 10

SUGGESTED BET: JUST LIKE NUGGET (5) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: BETA THAN LOVE (9) finished second behind Another Nien in a stronger race at Melton last outing and he hasn’t enjoyed the best of luck recently so he is worth an investment. The interesting runner is the former Tasmanian pacer HERAKLES (4), which is resuming since a fourth in the Raider Stakes Final at Launceston in July. He boasts a consistent record and must be kept safe for his Victorian debut. BIG SLEDGE HAMMER (3) is stepping up in class but has struck peak form having won at his past two attempts. He possesses early pace and is a good chance of finding the lead so he must be respected. THE IRON DUKE (6) continues to improve with the benefit of experience and was driven aggressively to win at Cobram last outing so he must be included amongst the leading chances.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 2,4,7

SELECTIONS: BETA THAN LOVE (9), HERAKLES (4), BIG SLEDGE HAMMER (3), THE IRON DUKE (6)

RATINGS: 4,9/ 3/ 6,7/ 1,5

SUGGESTED BET: BETA THAN LOVE (9) each way

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: OZZIE JOYBELL (8) was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off well for sixth (7m) behind Pete Mitchell last week. This is a drop back in class and she will be hard to hold out in the run to the finish. BET SHEZA LADY (9) is returning from a Tasmanian campaign, where she was runner up in all of her three starts. She has the perfect trailing draw and should be finishing off strongly. FINAL BOW (3) has won eight races for the season and possesses the necessary early speed to obtain a forward position in the early stages of the event. She recorded a career best mile rate of 1.56.4 when she scored at Shepparton on October 15. BETTORSWEETVICTORY (7) is working back into some form and rates as a value hope.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 2,5

SELECTIONS: OZZIE JOYBELL (8), BET SHEZA LADY (9), FINAL BOW (3), BETTORSWEETVICTORY (7)

RATINGS: 8,9/ 3/ 7/ 1,2,5

SUGGESTED BET: OZZIE JOYBELL (8) each way

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: FIELD OF POPPIES (4) is resuming since September but she performed consistently during her three starts last campaign and strikes a suitable assignment first up so she must be respected. IVE AN IDEA (1) is a maiden from 18 starts but she has been placed at her past two attempts against similar opposition and is drawn to receive every chance so she is worth an investment. MISS MAGIK (6) was held up for a run at a vital stage and didn’t have much luck when fifth at Ballarat last outing. She has been placed 12 times for the season so she deserves to break through for a win. CRAZY ON THE BEACH (8) was left without cover throughout when seventh last week and is a minor place chance from her trailing draw.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,6

SELECTIONS: FIELD OF POPPIES (4), IVE AN IDEA (1), MISS MAGIK (6), CRAZY ON THE BEACH (8)

RATINGS: 4/ 1,6/ 8/ 5

SUGGESTED BET: FIELD OF POPPIES (4) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: DHONI TROUBLE (3) performed below expectations ($1-95 fav) when sixth at Shepparton last week but he was an impressive winner at Maryborough prior and this race is much easier so he is worth another chance. ABBIE (7) was held up for a run at a vital stage when fourth at Shepparton two starts ago then worked home well for second behind Silver Spoon last week. She is widely drawn but is getting close to a win against this class. HURRICANE JANE (8) was doing her best work late when fourth behind Silver Spoon last week. She is usually competitive at this level and is worth a ticket each way. ONETWOSKIPPERFEW (9) should be working home well from the trailing draw.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,4

SELECTIONS: DHONI TROUBLE (3), ABBIE (7), HURRICANE JANE (8), ONETWOSKIPPERFEW (9)

RATINGS: 3/ 7,8/ 1,9/ 5/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: DHONI TROUBLE (3) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: TOPHUT JOHNY (8) finished off solidly and just failed to pick up No Emotion when a narrow second at Charlton last week. He is awkwardly drawn but this is a similar assignment and he will be hard to hold out in the run to the finish. OLLY ODD POTTS (9) has been runner up at his past three starts and finished off quite well for second behind Muriel last week. He should be competitive again from the trailing draw. SHEZABLUECHIP (4) endured a tough run and had excuses when fifth at Shepparton last outing. She was placed behind Noble Julia at Shepparton prior and is worth an investment. JOHN VINCENT (7) has been placed at his past two attempts against similar opposition and is worth thought despite the wide draw.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 2,3

SELECTIONS: TOPHUT JOHNY (8), OLLY ODD POTTS (9), SHEZABLUECHIP (4), JOHN VINCENT (7)

RATINGS: 8,9/ 4/ 6,7/ 5

SUGGESTED BET: TOPHUT JOHNY (8) each way

Race 9:

OVERVIEW: MURIEL (1) produced a powerful finishing burst when she got up to win at Shepparton last week. She is drawn to trail behind the likely leader so she must be considered as a winning chance again. ROCKSTAR LEO (2) is a fast beginner from the mobile and led throughout to win at Cobram two starts ago. He is drawn to find the lead again and he likes to run along at a genuine tempo so he warrants respect. THE MAJORS GIRL (8) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and she is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward so she is worth thought. WINGATE GUY (4), LUVERBOY (6) and OUR CHEEKY DEVIL (7) all have claims in an open race to end the program.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 6,7

SELECTIONS: MURIEL (1), ROCKSTAR LEO (2), THE MAJORS GIRL (8), LUVERBOY (6)

RATINGS: 1/ 2,6,8/ 4,7

SUGGESTED BET: MURIEL (1) each way
