Shepparton, Tuesday 12 November

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: ALIZA HILL (3) endured a tough run and had excuses at Cobram last outing. Her two efforts prior were sound including a victory at Cranbourne, where she led throughout so she must be respected from the good draw. NOBLE JULIA (4) has struck peak form having won four of her past six starts. She trailed into the race nicely and finished off fast to win last week so she is worth thought again. EAGLE MAJOR (8) is resuming since February but he performed very nicely at a Shepparton trial second last week and has the ability to feature prominently if he gains the right luck from an awkward draw. ARRAPS (11) performs best when he is able to lead so the barrier draw is a disadvantage but he did defeat a field of similar quality last week.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 5,7

SELECTIONS: ALIZA HILL (3), NOBLE JULIA (4), EAGLE MAJOR (8), ARRAPS (11)

RATINGS: 3,4/ 8/ 11/ 7,10

SUGGESTED BET: ALIZA HILL (3) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: TIGER TEE (9) is a New South Wales trained trotter that is backing up from contesting a strong race at Melton on Saturday night and should be competitive against this field. She is bred to pace being by Tiger Tara but she is trotting very consistently. DHONI TROUBLE (1) is stepping up in class but he was very impressive at the trials prior to recording a runaway victory at Maryborough when resuming. He is ideally drawn over the sprint distance and he must be respected. YANKEE LOVER (8) is resuming since March but he gets into this race with a concession claim and he is a handy trotter when at his peak so he cannot be underestimated. YOU NO ILL BE LATE (6) is racing in peak form and has claims along with ITS DIAMOND CREEK (2), HILLSIDE (3) and GLENGARRY RED (4).

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 3,4

SELECTIONS: TIGER TEE (9), DHONI TROUBLE (1), YANKEE LOVER (8), YOU NO ILL BE LATE (6)

RATINGS: 9/ 1/ 6,8/ 3,4

SUGGESTED BET: TIGER TEE (9) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: SILVER SPOON (5) was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off nicely when fifth behind Jansu at her first run since August. She should have benefited from that performance and she strikes a suitable assignment now. IVAR (2) finished off fast when an eye-catching third behind Dhoni Trouble last week. His past two efforts have been sound and he is nearing a win against this class. ABBIE (3) was shuffled back on the markers and didn’t enjoy the best of luck when fourth at Shepparton last week. She is racing better than her form reads and is not without a chance. HURRICANE JANE (10) galloped away and couldn’t recover last week. Her form prior was sound so she is worth another chance.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader),4,6

SELECTIONS: SILVER SPOON (5), IVAR (2), ABBIE (3), HURRICANE JANE (10)

RATINGS: 5/ 2,3/ 10/ 4,8

SUGGESTED BET: SILVER SPOON (5) to win

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: GIVE ME A MINUTE (9) is backing up after contesting a strong race at Melton on Saturday night and should be competitive against this line up. He endured a tough run and finished a brave third at Menangle two starts ago. EYE SEE PHILTRA (3) has won seven races for the season and was able to lead throughout at his latest performance. This is a race of more depth but he is likely to be prominent throughout. ANGELSHAVTIME (1) has been promising a win for some time and missed out narrowly last outing. She is perfectly drawn over the sprint distance so she is worth an investment. CHEERSTOLOU (5) is a fast beginner and finished a narrow second behind the in-form pacer Wattlebank Arnie last outing so he must be considered as a winning chance.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,4,5

SELECTIONS: GIVE ME A MINUTE (9), EYE SEE PHILTRA (3), ANGELSHAVTIME (1), CHEERSTOLOU (5)

RATINGS: 9/ 1,3/ 5/ 2/ Field

SUGGESTED BET: GIVE ME A MINUTE (9) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: MADAM REACTOR (2) showed a return to some form when second behind Swift Watch at Shepparton last week and she will appreciate a decent drop back in class for this assignment so she gets her chance to break through for a win. JIMMY BREEZE (7) is a smart pacer but is still learning. He broke stride in the early stages and lost his chance when ninth at Melton last time but he has been very impressive at the trials since. LAZENA (5) is a juvenile filly taking on older horses but her form in New South Wales is solid including a victory at Penrith on April 10 so she is not without a chance. DANGER PLAY (1) will appreciate her best draw for some time and is capable of showing improvement.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely early leader), 3,5

SELECTIONS: MADAM REACTOR (2), JIMMY BREEZE (7), LAZENA (5), DANGER PLAY (1)

RATINGS: 2,7/ 5/ 1,8/ 3/ 4,6

SUGGESTED BET: MADAM REACTOR (2) each way

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: COURAGEOUS CAESAR (8) was heavily supported at his first run since December but he broke stride in the score up and was forced to chase hard when a creditable fourth at Cobram. He obviously has ability and is worth following. VALENTINE QUEEN (1) is a first starter for trainer Michael Coulter, which finished a close fourth behind Highlandhartbreaka (won since) at a recent Melton trial performance. The form out of that trial is strong and she did beat home Havadash Joh, which won impressively on debut at Yarra Valley on Thursday, so she cannot be left out of calculations. VINCENT GRANGE (3) pressed forward from the outside of the front line to park without cover when third behind Leonard at Shepparton last outing. He is a speedy type and is not without a chance. JOHNNY TANG (5) and JUST GO JOE (6) are both capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 2,6

SELECTIONS: COURAGEOUS CAESAR (8), VALENTINE QUEEN (1), VINCENT GRANGE (3), JUST GO JOE (6)

RATINGS: 8/ 1/ 3,5,6/ 7

SUGGESTED BET: COURAGEOUS CAESAR (8) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: ICANMOTOR (8) sustained a long run and got up to score in a race of similar standard at Kimore on October 10. He battled on well for fourth at Ballarat on Thursday night and should prove hard to beat under these conditions. FANTASY BEACH (1) should be getting fitter after having two starts back from a spell and he will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment so he is worth an investment. PINNACLE HOPE (7) is widely drawn but he was a winner under similar conditions at Shepparton two starts ago so he must be included amongst the winning chances. FOUR STARZZZ RUBY (4) progressed forward to find the lead and battled on fairly well for fourth last week so she is worth a place ticket.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 4,6,7

SELECTIONS: ICANMOTOR (8), FANTASY BEACH (1), PINNACLE HOPE (7), FOUR STARZZZ RUBY (4)

RATINGS: 8/ 1,7/ 4/ 6/ 2,3,5

SUGGESTED BET: ICANMOTOR (8) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: MYNAMEISRUBY (4) is racing consistently and deserves to break through for a win. She dashed to the front on the home turn before being run down late by Noble Julia when second at Shepparton last week. BERYLS GRIN (2) was heavily supported and did well after racing without cover throughout when third at Cobram last outing. That was his best effort for some time and a repeat performance will see him go close from the good draw. MURIEL (7) just failed to overhaul Beaudacious when a narrow second at Maryborough on Wednesday. She has been placed in three of her past four starts and should be finding the line strongly. JOEYS HANGOVER (5) and OLLY ODD POTTS (6) are both capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible early leader), 2

SELECTIONS: MYNAMEISRUBY (4), BERYLS GRIN (2), MURIEL (7), OLLY ODD POTTS (6)

RATINGS: 4/ 2,7/ 6/ 3/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: MYNAMEISRUBY (4) each way
