Ballarat, Thursday 7 November

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: HAMMER DAN (7) is a smart pacer that is resuming since a victory at Melton in December. He competed in the Breeders Crown and the Australian Gold Bullion series prior and he should go well against this grade first up. JUST PEDRO (3) is resuming since June but he was a runaway winner at Melton two starts ago and he is a good chance of finding the lead from the handy draw. He did defeat HAMMER DAN (7) at a recent Melton trial victory. BOLRAMSKI (10) is another smart horse that is resuming from a break. He competed in the Super Series Final at his latest appearance and he will be fitter after two recent trial efforts at Terang. HEAVENLY BRIGADE (4) galloped on the home turn last week but was in winning form prior and is worth another chance.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 1,7

SELECTIONS: HAMMER DAN (7), JUST PEDRO (3), BOLRAMSKI (10), HEAVENLY BRIGADE (4)

RATINGS: 7/ 3,10/ 4/ 2,8/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: HAMMER DAN (7) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: CARRAMAR OLAM (11) settled in the second half of the field and was very wide on the home turn when an eye-catching third at Ballarat last week. He competed in the Graduate prior so he has the class to test this field. MONTANA PRIDE (4) has been runner up in two of his past four starts and should be competitive against this class. He finished off reasonably well from midfield in a leader dominated race at Horsham last outing. PICTURE US ROLLIN (9) was able to lead throughout in a mile rate of 1.56.7 at Ballarat last outing. He drops back to the second line now but he should continue to improve with the benefit of racing. SINBAD SASSY (2) is an interesting runner. He is a juvenile colt for trainer Michael Stanley, which is taking on a strong field first up but he did win a trial at Ballarat recently so he must be kept safe.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely early leader), 2,4

SELECTIONS: CARRAMAR OLAM (11), MONTANA PRIDE (4), PICTURE US ROLLIN (9), SINBAD SASSY (2)

RATINGS: 11/ 4,9/ 2/ 7,8,10

SUGGESTED BET: CARRAMAR OLAM (11) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: SOHO EMPIRE STATE (7) is better than his form reads and is worth an investment in an open betting race. He gained a nice trail and finished off well when second at Hamilton two starts ago then finished unplaced in a strong field last outing. CALYPSO MISTRESS (1) possesses early speed and has struck form having won three of her past four starts. She led out then took cover and finished off strongly to win in a career best mile rate of 1.55.8 last outing so she must be respected. YURUGA LASS (10) had little luck when fifth at Horsham on October 30 and was runner up at Ballarat three starts ago. She is a speedy mare and is worth a ticket each way. AMPHIJET (8) has the perfect trailing draw behind CALYPSO MISTRESS (1) so he is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 3,5

SELECTIONS: SOHO EMPIRE STATE (7), CALYPSO MISTRESS (1), YURUGA LASS (10), AMPHIJET (8)

RATINGS: 1,7/ 10/ 8/ 3,4/ 2,5

SUGGESTED BET: SOHO EMPIRE STATE (7) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: BOUTIKA (3) is rising in class but she has never raced better and is a good chance of completing five straight victories. She raced on the outside of the leader for most of the journey and was strong at the finish when she won at Bendigo last week. HES THEMIGHTYSPIN (10) continues to race well this campaign having been placed in four of his past five starts. He was placed in a slick mile rate of 1.57.2 at Geelong last outing and he gets into this race with a concession claim so he must be considered as one of the leading chances. COUNTESS CHIRON (8) led out then took cover when third behind I Dream Of Millie last outing. This is a big drop back in class so she should be hitting the line nicely and she does follow out behind the fast beginner FLING IT RAINBOW (1). FLING IT RAINBOW (1) produced his best performance for some time when he led throughout last week and is worth thought along with DUTCH TEACHER (2).

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 2,3,4

SELECTIONS: BOUTIKA (3), HES THEMIGHTYSPIN (10), COUNTESS CHIRON (8), DUTCH TEACHER (2)

RATINGS: 3,10/ 8/ 1,2/ 7

SUGGESTED BET: BOUTIKA (3) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: NIGHT WHISPERER (8) is trotting in peak form and has the perfect trailing draw behind the fast beginner ROMANTIC NINA (1). He overcame a tough run to win at Horsham last week so there is no reason why he can’t be competitive again. ROMANTIC NINA (1) progressed forward to find the lead and proved to be too strong at Maryborough last outing. She is drawn to find the lead again and is a strong winning chance but she does have a tendency to race fiercely, which is a concern over the middle distance. RYMES (10) would clearly be the horse to beat if he trots throughout but he does have a lot of gait issues. He was slowly away and produced a big performance when a close second behind Fling It Rainbow last week. TUBS NOW SLIM (2) and SCAR (5) are both very strong performers and are in winning form so they cannot be left out of calculations.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 2,3,5,7

SELECTIONS: NIGHT WHISPERER (8), ROMANTIC NINA (1), RYMES (10), SCAR (5)

RATINGS: 8/ 1,10/ 5/ 2/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: NIGHT WHISPERER (8) each way

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: CINCINNATI (10) ran a great race at his first appearance for trainer David Murphy after he raced without cover and fought on bravely for second behind Picture Us Rollin in a mile rate of 1.56.7. He is poorly drawn but a repeat performance will see him being very competitive. GOODTIME MAE (5) finished a close second behind Alamo at Kilmore then followed with a fourth in the race won by Picture Us Rollin last week, where she got a long way back from a poor draw. She will appreciate moving onto the front line and must be considered as a winning chance. IM THE WILD ONE (4) did well to finish third after working hard at Melton last outing and should be prominent throughout from her good draw. MIKIS JOE (6) and SIR NIPPA (7) have both been racing consistently against the maiden class and are not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 4,7

SELECTIONS: CINCINNATI (10), GOODTIME MAE (5), IM THE WILD ONE (4), MIKIS JOE (6)

RATINGS: 5,10/ 4,6/ 7/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: CINCINNATI (10) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: THE DEMOCRAT (4) ran a very good race from a poor draw when third behind Snazola last week. He strikes a suitable race now and must be respected. ICANMOTOR (7) came from last and sustained a strong run when a good winner at Kilmore three starts ago. He didn’t have much luck at Bendigo last week and he strikes a suitable assignment now. JOHN VINCENT (8) ran a sharper race when he loomed up to win and was gunned down late by Ronzel Micky at Swan Hill. This race is no harder and he can be competitive again. RIVER PATROL (6) is a fast beginner and races best when he is able to lead. He led throughout at a Yarra Valley victory on September 23 and is worth thought despite the wide draw.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (likely leader), 2

SELECTIONS: THE DEMOCRAT (4), ICANMOTOR (7), JOHN VINCENT (8), RIVER PATROL (6)

RATINGS: 4/ 7/ 6,8/ 2,3,5

SUGGESTED BET: THE DEMOCRAT (4) each way

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: NO REMORSE (3) has had five seconds and two fourths out of his past seven starts so he deserves to break through for a win. He settled in a rearward position after commencing from the inside of the second line and finished off well for fourth at Maryborough last week. CASTLES IN THE SKY (5) has been placed in two of her past three starts against similar opposition and finished off well for second at Maryborough last outing. She strikes a suitable assignment and should be competitive again. PROSPEROUS (7) frequently places against the maiden class and should be working to the line nicely. FONDA RHONDA (8) broke stride at the start and did a lot of chasing so she showed some ability at her debut. She is a winning chance if she can get away safely from the trailing draw.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 2

SELECTIONS: NO REMORSE (3), CASTLES IN THE SKY (5), PROSPEROUS (7), FONDA RHONDA (8)

RATINGS: 3/ 5,7/ 8/ 2

SUGGESTED BET: NO REMORSE (3) to win
