We head to Launceston on Sunday for the Australian Female Drivers Championship which brings together twelve of the countries best reinswomen to do battle for the title. It’s great to see there is a changing of the guard with a lot of younger reinswomen coming through which is great for the future of Australia Harness Racing.

Waterfront should continue on her winning way in race two and give WA driver Emily Suvaljko maximum points.

The following race Smooth Machete can give Sam Pascoe maximum points and prove too strong for How Sweet.

Freeasabyrd happy to go her way in what is a competitive race with Chloe Butler in the gig.

The fifth heat looks a race in two with the Duchess of WA racing Deni Roberts looking to lead throughout on Didyalousaroosta but will have to to hold out Octagonise who is looking for five in a row with Sam Pascoe from SA in the gig.

The best at odds come up in race one being Fury Dan who will be looking to battle his rivals.

RACE 1: 18:17pm 2024 Australian Female Drivers Championship Heat 1 2200m

Here we have the first of six heats of the Australian Drivers Championship which is for the up to 75 pacers. SWEET AMOUR (3) won well last time at Burnie and this looks within her grasp as should settle on speed. TASHS MATE (4) will find this slightly easier than last time and should be close enough to figure late. SCARLET PLACE (2) will also appreciate the draw so gets her chance to make her presence felt. FURY DAN (5) is a tough type but needs to be up on speed and from their will keep whacking away and wouldn’t shock. KIAVINO STRIDE (8) and ONEOFTHELADS (9) are a couple of the back line that should push through early and are a must for the exotic players to include along with CHRIS BE QUICK (6).

This is the second and brings together a couple of pacers who have impressive picket fences with the first of them being WATERFRONT (2) who has been racing through the classes over the last few months and from the draw she looks set to continue her winning run. TRIEDTOTELLYA (3) has four in a row since resuming and this is his toughest test to date but he has taken all before him so this looks a great clash. ROYAL APPOINTMENT (5) is racing well and with a bit of luck early will settle close enough to get his chance. KIVIK (7) and WE SALJTE YOU (10) are all racing well and are a must for the wider exotic players along with NANCESTIGER (1) who resumes but is EOD which he draws outside the front so will find it tough

This is the third heat and looks another two horse race with star local 3yo SMOOTH MACHETE (3) looking for a hat-trick of wins and if he runs up to his latest effort he will take plenty of holding out. HOW SWEET (1) has won her last four since the above the beat her a month ago but from the pole gets her chance to reverse the result. MAGIC JOE (2), COLBY SANZ (4), DAZZLE ME (7) and MISTA EAGLE (9) are a quartet that will be fighting out the minor exotic placings.

This looks another good clash where FREEASABYRD (4) will be looking to bounce back after her latest run where she was outmuscled in the run to the line but this is easier so looks hard to beat. FREE TO PLAY (3) draws to her inside and that could be crucial as she has the form to also avenge for her latest effort when nothing went right. BINALONG WEEK (1) creates a bit of interest off the pole as brings winning form so should get her chance to upset the top two. IYLAC PAKARIA (6) is a good mare resuming so will pay to watch as if produced her best can figure. IDEN BLACK PRINCE (7) and KENYA (8) are a couple to include for the wider exotic placings.

This is the fifth heat of the and we see another pacer in OCTAGONISE (2) looking to extend his picket fence and from the draw looks to get every chance and is the one to beat. DIDYALOUSAROOSTA (1) draws the pole so can lead or take a sit so either is a major player. YARECKON IM SWEET (7) was impressive last time and if was able to zoom across and find the pegs can give some cheek with a repeat effort. MAGOMEDOV (3), ONEHANDONEBOUNCE (6) and PUNTARNO STRIDE (8) are a trio to include for the wider exotic placings.

This is the sixth and final heat and it’s a tough one with most pacers have some chance. AURORA REASON (6) makes his way down from Queensland where he was beaten at short odds last time so obviously has ability and this is not strong so keep safe. GYPSY AMOUR (7) brings the most consistent form into the race but draws wide so will need to push forward and gets on speed will go close. HURRICANE ROCK (4) has been consistent of late and this is a race that he can go close in so include along with the likes of SCRUB BASHER (1) and WATCH IT HAPPEN (2) who draw well. LAID BACK (5) has been disappointing since his first up win but of bought his best wouldn’t shock.

The last of the night is for 3yo and older pacers and Kiwi import FUN TO LOVE (4) looks to find a race that can see her win first up. She draws well so should be able to push forward and make her own luck and prove too good. PISTOL QUEEN (8) creates some interest first up in the state as draws to get a soft trip so can be around the mark. SOHO UNDERTAKER (9) has been around the mark of late and draws to get a good run through so can place. A SHADOW OF DOUBT (2) has improved at each run and gets the perfect draw to fill a placing again for the exotic players. KINGOFTHEKLONDIKE (6) and KOSTYUK LEIS (13) are a couple on debut but have tough draws to overcome so prefer to watch.
