Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: The horses drawn on the second line appear to be well graded based on the National Ratings system but they will be giving the leaders a start over the sprint distance. STARZZZ DESTINY (9) worked very hard to find the lead early and had excuses at his latest seventh. His form prior was strong so he is worth another chance. JUDES DUDE (7) has struck peak form having had four wins and two seconds from his past six starts. He moved up without cover and proved to be too strong last outing so he is worth thought again. CAPTAIN MAASTRICHT (10) is better suited when he is drawn on the front line, where he can utilize his gate speed but he is a short course specialist and was impressive last week so he cannot be left out of calculations. IM A DENNY TOO (3) is working up to a win having been placed in three of his past four starts and he has the early speed to be prominent throughout.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,3,5,7

SELECTIONS: STARZZZ DESTINY (9), JUDES DUDE (7), CAPTAIN MAASTRICHT (10), IM A DENNY TOO (3)

RATINGS: 7,9/ 10/ 3,8/ 2,5

SUGGESTED BET: STARZZZ DESTINY (9) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: NELLIE JOY (5) scored at Melton two starts ago in a race of similar standard then finished off fairly well for third behind the in-form trotter Boutika at Bendigo last outing. She strikes a suitable assignment and should prove hard to beat. THE SKY IS THE LIMIT (9) sustained a long run to score at Maryborough last outing. Her previous effort was in a Super Series event so she appears to be well placed in this line up and must be included amongst the leading chances. MONT SALLY (7) is shooting for five straight victories and is a chance of completing the task. She gained a nice trail and just got the job done last outing but this race is no harder. ALFIE ALWAYS (3) was runner up at Maryborough on September 18 and didn’t have a great deal of luck when sixth at his latest attempt so he is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3,7

SELECTIONS: NELLIE JOY (5), THE SKY IS THE LIMIT (9), MONT SALLY (7), ALFIE ALWAYS (3)

RATINGS: 5/ 7,9/ 3/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: NELLIE JOY (5) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: It is a tough race to assess over the sprint distance of 1200m with an abundance of early pace drawn close to the marker pegs. HEY GOYOUGOODTHING (6) is ready to break through for a win and should be striking his peak form after having two starts back from a spell so he gets the nod. He was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off gamely when second behind Banksofthemurray last outing. JUMPINGJOY (9) is terribly drawn on the outside of the front line but she is a very fast filly and will appreciate a drop back in class on her latest effort in a heat of the Super Series so she cannot be discarded. OOH AH LISTAH (7) appears to be well graded in this event and is a proven winner over the 1200m so he is not without a chance. CHANSU (1), REGAL ROCK (3) and POLLY PEACHUM (4) will all be vying for the lead coming up to the first turn and the battle for the early supremacy might determine the result.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 3,4

SELECTIONS: HEY GOYOUGOODTHING (6), JUMPINGJOY (9), OOH AH LISTAH (7), REGAL ROCK (3)

RATINGS: 6/ 7,9/ 3/ 1,5,8/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: HEY GOYOUGOODTHING (6) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: ROYAL CHARLOTTE (7) hasn’t been at her best form recently but she does appear to be extremely well graded in this event and gets her chance to bounce back into the winning list. She was placed behind the in-form trotter Picket Wire two starts ago then broke stride when in a striking position on the home turn at Geelong last week. DALEY WATERS (1) has chased home the champion filly Keayang Zahara at her past two attempts and she is ideally drawn over the 1200m so she should be very competitive. HES THEMIGHTYSPIN (6) was runner up over this distance two starts ago then came from the handicap of 30m when he scored impressively at Ararat. He has won six races this season and must be considered as a winning chance again. RASTAMON (4) is a fast beginner and should be prominent throughout. AARDIES PEAK (2) performed very nicely at the trials last week and is a possible improver.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,6,7

SELECTIONS: ROYAL CHARLOTTE (7), DALEY WATERS (1), HES THE MIGHTYSPIN (6), AARDIES PEAK (2)

RATINGS: 1,7/ 6/ 2,4/ 5/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: ROYAL CHARLOTTE (7) each way

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: FERRIGNO (3) attempted to lead throughout and finished second behind the classy filly Vague Beauty over the 1200m two starts ago. He is drawn to find the lead again and is capable of going one better. MONTANA PRIDE (5) gained a nice trail but missed out by a very narrow margin when second behind Heavenly Brigade at Geelong in a mile rate of 1.55.6 last week. He is racing consistently and looms as one of the leading chances again. ANGEL OF ANGER (4) is a speedy type that has won three of her past four starts and she had excuses last time when she struck trouble. She should be suited to racing over the short trip and must be respected. IM DUSTEE (7) was a winner at Cobram two starts ago and has claims along with SKY CITY (9), which will appreciate a drop back in class but has a horror draw over the 1200m.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 2,4

SELECTIONS: FERRIGNO (3), MONTANA PRIDE (5), ANGEL OF ANGER (4), SKY CITY (9)

RATINGS: 3/ 4,5/ 2,7,9/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: FERRIGNO (3) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: BEST BETTOR BET (1) is backing up quickly from his effort at Hamilton on Wednesday but he is perfectly draw and strikes a suitable assignment here. He finished off well for fourth behind Jimmy Breeze in a slick mile rate of 1.55.5 at Ballarat three starts ago, which is a good form pointer for this event. MIKIS JOE (8) has been placed at his past four attempts and has the perfect trailing draw behind BEST BETTOR BET (1). He is versatile and deserves to break through for a win. MALANI JOH (2) is resuming since September 2023 but she was placed behind the very smart pacer Sweet Ideal at a Terang trial recently albeit beaten a long way in fast time. She has ability and cannot be left out of calculations. VINCENTS RAINBOW (4) was runner up behind Hesaa Lister at her latest trial performance in reasonable time so she must be kept safe.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,3

SELECTIONS: BEST BETTOR BET (1), MIKIS JOE (8), MALANI JOH (2), VINCENTS RAINBOW (4)

RATINGS: 1/ 2,8/ 4,6/ 3/ 7

SUGGESTED BET: BEST BETTOR BET (1) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: LORIMERMAJOR (4) hasn’t won a race in 27 starts for the season but he finished stylishly from a rearward position when second behind Arraps (head) at Shepparton last week so he appears to be close to the money. His last win was over Do Not Surrender and Lottie Moon in a National Ratings 55-62 event so he appears to be well placed here! DEUCE COUPE (8) settled at the tail of the field and made up many lengths over the concluding stages when second at his first run for trainer Jodi Quinlan. He is a speedy type and looms as one of the leading chances. HARBOUR SPRINGS (7) ran into a dead end in the latter stages and had little luck in the Super Series Silver event at her debut. She couldn’t make ground in a sizzling final quarter of 26.9 seconds at her latest performance and is worth another chance. EYE SEE AMOUR (3) and INDI AIR TONIGHT (5) are both capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,2

SELECTIONS: LORIMERMAJOR (4), DEUCE COUPE (8), HARBOUR SPRINGS (7), INDI AIR TONIGHT (5)

RATINGS: 4,8/ 5,7/ 3/ 1,2/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: LORIMERMAJOR (4) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: NAI HARN BAY (7) is racing in career best form and should be suited to competing over the sprint distance of 1200m so he must be rated highly. He made a mid-race move, worked hard and was gunned down late by MIDNIGHT MOJO (3) at Kilmore last week. BONA KHAN (6) is a very quick beginner and races best when he is able to lead over short distances. He couldn’t find the lead in the early stages so he had excuses at Geelong and his third at Terang prior was sound. ISLAND CAESAR (9) raced fiercely and endured a torrid run when sixth last week. He has won three of his past six starts so he is worth another chance. PICKLE IT (2) is another fast beginner that excels over sprint distances and is worth thought from his good draw. MIDNIGHT MOJO (3) and HARLEY BLUE (8) are both racing well enough to figure in the finish.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (possible leader), 1,2,9

SELECTIONS: NAI HARN BAY (7), BONA KHAN (6), ISLAND CAESAR (9), PICKLE IT (2)

RATINGS: 7/ 6,9/ 2,3,8/ 1/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: NAI HARN BAY (7) to win
