Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW:  FOUROUTOFFIVE (9) won a heat of the Super Series prior to finishing fourth in the Final behind the star trotter The Locomotive. This is a much easier assignment and he should prove hard to beat. PICKET WIRE (4) is a versatile mare and is racing in peak form. She was unplaced in the Super Series Final then followed with victories at Shepparton and Bendigo. She progressed forward to race on the outside of the leader and was a big winner last time so she must be considered as a winning chance again. IKIGAI (5) began quickly to find the lead and held off the challenge of ALDEBARAN ACRUX (8) and HES A HAMMER (7) at Kilmore last outing. She is drawn to obtain a prominent position again so she must be respected. ROYAL CHARLOTTE (3) is a fast beginner that is likely to lead out then take cover so she is worth a ticket each way.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely early leader), 4,5

SELECTIONS: FOUROUTOFFIVE (9), PICKET WIRE (4), IKIGAI (5), ROYAL CHARLOTTE (3)

RATINGS: 9/ 4,5/ 3/ 7,8,10/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: FOUROUTOFFIVE (9) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: MONTANA PRIDE (9) led out then took cover and was held up for a run at a vital stage when a game second behind Remi Lou at Ballarat last outing. He was a winner at Ballarat three starts ago and must be considered as a winning chance again. HEAVENLY BRIGADE (7) is working back into some form and produced a strong finish when third behind Our Ultimate Gracy in a mile rate of 1.57.4 last outing. She is a classy mare and appears to be well placed against this class. MONSIEUR FLAMEL (4) performs best when he is able to lead so he will appreciate moving back to the front line. He had no clear run when an unlucky fifth at Swan Hill last outing and was a winner at Wagga prior. BLACKINDEED (1) beat a much easier field at her maiden success last week but is drawn to run a good race again.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 1,5

SELECTIONS: MONTANA PRIDE (9), HEAVENLY BRIGADE (7), MONSIEUR FLAMEL (4), BLACKINDEED (1)

RATINGS: 9/ 4,7/ 1/ 11/ 3,5,6/ 10

SUGGESTED BET: MONTANA PRIDE (9) each way

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: PICKLE IT (1) performs best when he is able to lead over the sprint distance so he is perfectly suited under these conditions. He has been placed at his past four starts and endured a tough run when a handy second behind Asharah at Terang last outing. EYE SEE AMOUR (9) has finished off nicely at his past two attempts and appears to be well placed against this class so he must be considered as a winning chance. REALLY SMARTIE (6) had little luck after commencing from the inside of the second line at his latest attempt and was runner up at his two efforts prior. He is poorly drawn again but he is usually competitive against this class. GOODTIME STRYKER (4) is racing well and is worth thought along with BLAZIN HEAVEN (5), OUR ULTIMATE LAYLA (8) and CHEYS ANGEL (10).

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3,4,5

SELECTIONS: PICKLE IT (1), EYE SEE AMOUR (9), REALLY SMARTIE (6), GOODTIME STRYKER (4)

RATINGS:1,9/ 4,6,10/ 5,8

SUGGESTED BET: PICKLE IT (1) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: JOELITA (9) has been unplaced in all of her three starts back from a spell but she is working into form and she tried to sustain a long run out three horses wide when fourth behind Rocknallovertheworld in a strong race last week. She possesses a powerful finishing burst and should prove hard to beat against this class. CAPTAIN MAASTRICHT (7) is a brilliant beginner and led early before taking cover from a similar wide draw at Geelong last week. He did appear to be under pressure before the home turn at his latest appearance but he came again in the straight for third in a mile rate of 1.54.1 so he must be respected. TERROR EYES (6) was shuffled back on the markers and was doing his best work late when third in a leader dominated race at Kilmore last outing. He is widely drawn but is racing in fine form and looms as one of the leading chances. VALIENTE (3) was finding the line strongly when fifth last week and has claims along with BANKSOFTHEMURRAY (8).

EARLY SPEED: 7 (likely early leader), 1,2

SELECTIONS: JOELITA (9), CAPTAIN MAASTRICHT (7), TERROR EYES (6), VALIENTE (3)

RATINGS: 9/ 6,7/ 3,8/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: JOELITA (9) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: SURFE LE MER (9) finished fourth ($1-65 fav) in a heat of the Super Series then followed with a seventh in a semi-final and was third in the silver final. She will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and should prove hard to beat. THINKFAST RUNFAST (3) is a fast beginner and is racing consistently. He trailed the leader throughout when second in a race of similar standard last week so he should be competitive again. INSIDER TRADING (7) began quickly from a wide draw and raced without cover throughout when third at Geelong last outing. He is widely drawn again but is racing well enough to feature prominently. GOODTIME CAPTAIN (8) recorded fast time when he trailed the leader and used the sprint lane to win at Bendigo. He is awkwardly drawn for this assignment but he has ability and must be respected.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely early leader), 6,7

SELECTIONS: SURFE LE MER (9), THINKFAST RUNFAST (3), INSIDER TRADING (7), GOODTIME CAPTAIN (8)

RATINGS: 9/ 3,7/ 8/ 4,6

SUGGESTED BET: SURFE LE MER (9) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: VEE EM GEE MACRAY (7) is widely drawn but will appreciate a big drop back in class for this assignment and should prove hard to beat. She was runner up in a heat of the Super Series two starts ago then had little luck in the Final having been caught wide early and being restrained to a rearward position. LAYDEN (8) possesses a brilliant finishing burst and dashed along the sprint lane to win comfortably at Kilmore last outing. He might need some luck to find a nice trailing position early but he should be finishing stylishly again. BLAKE BOLAC (5) produced a huge effort when second behind Younggiftedandblack in a mile rate of 1.53.3 two starts ago then held off the challenge of HUGO ROCKS (6) to win at Swan Hill. He has returned to his peak form and should give another forward showing. ROCKNROLL WALLA (3) ran a game race after being wide in the last lap when second behind LAYDEN (8) last outing. He has claims along with CRIME WRITER (2), JILLIBY SELWOOD (4) and HUGO ROCKS (6).

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 3,4

SELECTIONS: VEE EM GEE MACRAY (7), LAYDEN (8), BLAKE BOLAC (5), ROCKNROLL WALLA (3)

RATINGS: 7/ 5,8/ 3/ 2,4,6

SUGGESTED BET: VEE EM GEE MACRAY (7) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: GIPSY PRINCESS (6) trailed the leader and accelerated beautifully to win comfortably two starts ago then missed out narrowly when third behind Jilliby Selwood last week. This race is of similar standard and she is worth thought again. MONA MIA (5) was held up badly for a run when an unlucky sixth in the same race at Geelong last week. She is a classy mare and has been competitive in much harder races previously so she warrants respect. COLLECTIVE WORKS (2) is a former New South Wales trained pacer, which joins trainer Carson Millar. He has won three of his past six starts and finished fourth behind the Victoria Derby aspirant Ravishing Sloy at his latest attempt so he must be rated highly. CLASSIC ANGELINA (7) missed out as favourite at Geelong last week but she was placed at her five starts prior so she is worth another chance.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,3

SELECTIONS: GIPSY PRINCESS (6), MONA MIA (5), COLLECTIVE WORKS (2), CLASSIC ANGELINA (7)

RATINGS: 6/ 2,5/ 7/ 1/ 3,4/ 8

SUGGESTED BET: GIPSY PRINCESS (6) each way

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: KEAYANG OMAR (3) was heavily supported at Yarra Valley on Monday but he was badly blocked for a run at a vital stage and appeared to be very unlucky having finished fast in the final 100m. He has been placed at his past three attempts and is ready to break through for a win. SHADY DANCER (2) began quickly to find the lead and was able to hold off her rivals in the run to the judge when she scored at Geelong last week. This is a race of similar standard and she is drawn to give another forward showing. BEST BETTOR BET (8) settled three back on the inside and finished off quickly once he gained a clear passage at his latest handy fourth in a slick mile rate of 1.55.5. He is awkwardly drawn but should continue to improve with the benefit of racing and is not to be underestimated. DEUCE COUPE (10) will be finishing off fast if the leaders go hard early so he is worth a ticket each way.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,4,7

SELECTIONS: KEAYANG OMAR (3), SHADY DANCER (2), BEST BETTOR BET (8), DEUCE COUPE (10)

RATINGS: 3/ 2,8/ 10/ 4,7

SUGGESTED BET: KEAYANG OMAR (3) to win
