Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: YOUNG BLUEY (9) was able to make it through to the Super Series Final so he has the class to test this field. He was runner up in the Tontine Championship at the end of his last campaign and he should be competitive under these conditions. ROCKANDANCE (12) progressed forward from the outside of the second row and moved up without cover when a brave third behind New Yorker last week. He has won five of his ten starts for the season and should make his presence felt. COOL NIGHT (1), ANOTHER NIEN (4) and TRIPLE VINNIES (5) have all been competing in Super Series events and should go well against this class. WOTDIDUSAAAY (10) is resuming since March but won a trial at Bacchus Marsh recently and has the ability to figure in the finish.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,2,6

SELECTIONS: YOUNG BLUEY (9), ROCKANDANCE (12), ANOTHER NIEN (4), COOL NIGHT (1)

RATINGS: 9,12/ 4/ 1,5,10/ 8

SUGGESTED BET: YOUNG BLUEY (9) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: COASTAL DRIVE (7) has had mixed results in his five starts since returning from a freshen up but he is a very smart horse when he is able to put it altogether. He missed out by a narrow margin in a heat of the Super Series before a tenth in a semi-final and a handy finishing fourth in the silver event. He will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and gets his chance to break through for a win. HARBOUR SPRINGS (10) went to the line jogging with no clear run when an unlucky sixth at his debut. He obviously has ability and is worth following. YANKEE RAIN (3) produced a career best performance when a close second behind Act Fast after racing without cover throughout at Bendigo last week. She hasn’t finished further back than fourth in seven starts to date so she is worth an investment. IN AN IDEAL WORLD (2) commenced from the inside of the second row and was driven aggressively when third at Bendigo last outing. He is much better drawn for this assignment so he cannot be left out of calculations.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 2,5,7

SELECTIONS: COASTAL DRIVE (7), HARBOUR SPRINGS (10), YANKEE RAIN (3), IN AN IDEAL WORLD (2)

RATINGS: 7/ 3,10/ 2/ 1/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: COASTAL DRIVE (7) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: SHOOBEES SPIRIT (11) produced a very tidy performance to win in handy time at Yarra Valley on Monday. This race is no harder and he looms as one of the leading chances again. IMAGINATION ORO (10) moved up without cover and remained strong at the finish when he scored at Ballarat last week. Her past two performances have been strong and she should go well again. JAY BEE (2) began quickly to find the lead and was untroubled in scoring at Yarra Valley on Monday. This race is harder but she is drawn to lead again and she is racing in the peak of form. JUST JAYDO (7) was able to win in handy time at Yarra Valley last outing and is worth thought despite the negative swing in the barrier draw.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible early leader), 1,2,4,6

SELECTIONS: SHOOBEES SPIRIT (11), IMAGINATION ORO (10), JAY BEE (2), JUST JAYDO (7)

RATINGS: 11/ 2,10/ 7/ 1,4

SUGGESTED BET: SHOOBEES SPIRIT (11) to win

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: SPICEY MAJOR (5) will appreciate a massive drop back in class from his recent efforts in the Super Series and should prove hard to beat under these conditions. He was beaten by a narrow margin in a slick mile rate of 1.54.5 prior to the Super Series commencing and he should be suited in a one lap dash. OOH AH LISTAH (4) will also appreciate a drop back in class on his recent performances and he is a proven winner over the 1200m so he must be respected. SPORTS WRACK (3) possesses early speed and should be prominent throughout from his ideal draw. QUADDIE VC (6) didn’t fire at his first two Australian attempts but his form in New Zealand was sound and he might sprint well when fresh so he is worth another chance.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 4,6,9

SELECTIONS: SPICEY MAJOR (5), OOH AH LISTAH (4), SPORTS WRACK (3), QUADDIE VC (6)

RATINGS: 5/ 4/ 3,6/ 9,10/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: SPICEY MAJOR (5) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: SUGA DADDY (9) won five of his six starts prior to the Super Series commencing so he is racing in great form. He finished second in his heat of the Super Series then finished unplaced behind The Locomotive in the Final. This is a big drop back in class and he is clearly the horse to beat. HES THEMIGHTYSPIN (4) didn’t perform up to expectations when a distant fifth at Melton last week but his overall form is sound and he possesses early speed so he should take catching over the sprint distance. SILENT REVERIE (2) is another fast beginner and is a short course specialist so she warrants respect. NAKEDTRUTH (5), RASTAMON (6) and YOGI SON (10) are all capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 2,5,6,7,9

SELECTIONS: SUGA DADDY (9), HES THEMIGHTYSPIN (4), SILENT REVERIE (2), NAKEDTRUTH (5)

RATINGS: 9/ 2,4/ 5/ 6,10

SUGGESTED BET: SUGA DADDY (9) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: KEAYANG ZAHARA (4) is a brilliantly talented trotter that remains undefeated from six starts and produced an unbelievable performance to win the Super Series with ease. She is clearly the horse to beat. MAORIS MAC (3) won the Nutrien Final in April and ran a handy race for fourth in the Super Series Final. She is versatile and looms as a strong Quinella chance. JILLIBY BALLERINI (1) has been placed in all of her five starts to date and finished solidly for third in the Super Series Final. She is very promising and is a genuine place chance but her lack of early speed might be of some concern from the pole position. WE CAN HAVE IT ALL (5), DALEY WATERS (6) and last season’s Breeders Crown champion NORDIC REIGN (9) are all worth thought in multiple combinations.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 2,5

SELECTIONS: KEAYANG ZAHARA (4), MAORIS MAC (3), JILLIBY BALLERINI (1), WE CAN HAVE IT ALL (5)

RATINGS: 4/ 1,3/ 5/ 6,9

SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 4/ 1,3/ 1,3,5,6,9 (Cost $8)

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: DEREK THE JET (5) is an outstanding individual, which remains undefeated in seven starts with his victories including the Nutrien Final, the Holmfield and the Super Series Final. He is extremely strong and should prove very hard to beat again. THUNDA STRUCK (1) attempted to lead throughout when second behind Titan Stride in a heat of the Super Series then followed with a sixth in the Final. He is ideally drawn and is a strong Quinella. REMUS PHOENIX (2) trailed the leader throughout and scored softly via the sprint lane at his latest attempt. He ran a strong race after enduring a wide trip when fourth in the Holmfield three starts ago so he must be rated highly. KYVALLEY MICHAEL (3) is returning from a Sydney campaign, where he won at Menangle two starts ago. He galloped in a heat of the Carousel last outing but he can fill a place against this line up.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (likely leader), 1

SELECTIONS: DEREK THE JET (5), THUNDA STRUCK (1), REMUS PHOENIX (2), KYVALLEY MICHAEL (3)

RATINGS: 5/ 1,2/ 3/ 4,6

SUGGESTED BET: Trifecta 5/ 1,2/ 1,2,3 (Cost $4)

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: VAGUE BEAUTY (3) finished off solidly from midfield to win over Elusive in the Super Series Silver event at Bendigo last week. She is a classy filly and should prove hard to beat again. FERRIGNO (5) ran a top race for fifth behind the boom pacer Captain Ravishing (won again since) at Geelong then followed with a third at Yarra Valley. He will be suited to competing over the short distance of 1200m and should give a forward showing. ACT FAST (2) is a juvenile filly taking on older and more experienced horses but she showed a good turn of speed to win at her debut so she cannot be left out of calculations. WRITTENINTHESKY (1) is a place chance from the pole position.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 3,4

SELECTIONS: VAGUE BEAUTY (3), FERRIGNO (5), ACT FAST (2), WRITTENINTHESKY (1)

RATINGS: 3/ 2,5/ 1/ 4/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: VAGUE BEAUTY (3) to win
