Shepparton, Tuesday 3 September

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: THEROCKGOD (6) has finished fast at his two starts since returning from a spell and is ready to break through for a win. He came from last when fourth behind Beta Than Love at Shepparton last week. DAT LOU (10) is resuming since recording successive victories in March but he finished second at a recent Shepparton trial performance so he must be considered as one of the leading chances. HEZ HARRYWHO (1) is stepping up in class but he is a bold front running pacer and is perfectly drawn over the sprint distance. He couldn’t get across early and raced without cover throughout when a big winner at Shepparton last outing. NOMORELYING (5) led throughout to win at Kilmore then followed with a trial victory at Shepparton last week. He has struck peak form and is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 5,7

SELECTIONS: THEROCKGOD (6), DAT LOU (10), HEZ HARRYWHO (1), NOMORELYING (5)

RATINGS: 6,10/ 1/ 5,8/ 7

SUGGESTED BET: THEROCKGOD (6) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: PET KITTY (7) continues her impressive run of form with five straight victories followed by a second at Shepparton last week, where she worked hard from the inside of the second line. She races best when she is able to lead and is likely to give a forward showing. BYRNESIDE BOOM (9) will appreciate a big drop back in class from his unplaced effort in a heat of the Super Series at Kilmore on Thursday night. He has won three races recently and should be competitive against this line up. APIECEOFLOU (8) is resuming from a break and hasn’t been to the trials but he was racing against much tougher opposition when he was last in work so he must be respected. COUNTRY ROCKSTAR (4) was held up for a run at a vital stage and didn’t have much luck last outing. He has claims along with EYE SEE PHILTRA (10).

EARLY SPEED: 7 (likely leader), 2,5,6

SELECTIONS: PET KITTY (7), BYRNESIDE BOOM (9), APIECEOFLOU (8), COUNTRY ROCKSTAR (4)

RATINGS: 7/ 8,9/ 4/ 10/ 2/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: PET KITTY (7) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: HARLEY BLUE (7) trailed the leader and finished off quite well for a close up third behind Angel of Anger in a slick mile rate of 1.56.2 at Melton last outing. This race is easier and she gets her chance to break through for a win. OUR MYSTERY BET (1) finished third against similar opposition at Shepparton last week. He is perfectly drawn and is worth thought again. JAPANESE MIKI (8) was a strong winner over Unit Forty One at Shepparton two weeks ago then had little luck from the outside of the front line at his latest sixth. He has the perfect trailing draw behind OUR MYSTERY BET (1) so he must be respected. REINDER (10) was a winner at Cranbourne on July 28 then picked up some ground late in a slick mile rate of 1.55.8 at Shepparton last week. He is poorly drawn but should be competitive against this line up.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,3,4,5,6,

SELECTIONS: HARLEY BLUE (7), OUR MYSTERY BET (1), JAPANESE MIKI (8), REINDER (10)

RATINGS: 1,7/ 8/ 10/ 4,5

SUGGESTED BET: HARLEY BLUE (7) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: ROAM (10) will appreciate a massive drop back in class for this assignment and should prove hard to beat. She was beaten narrowly by Favouritehighlight at Shepparton on July 16 and was always in the second half of the field from a poor draw last outing. KARUMA KEV (1) was runner up behind the handy type Byrneside Boom in April and will appreciate his best draw for some time so he has claims. MARAKO SHARK (4) has been freshened since a distant eighth at Shepparton in early July and has been placed in two recent trial performances. He possesses early speed and is not without a chance. STREETS OF MADRID (8) should receive an economical run on the markers so he rates as a value hope.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,4,6

SELECTIONS: ROAM (10), KARUMA KEV (1), MARAKO SHARK (4), STREETS OF MADRID (8)

RATINGS: 10/ 1,4/ 8/ 2,6

SUGGESTED BET: ROAM (10) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: PLAYNICE (4) has used his gate speed to his advantage in his recent performances and has built up a consistent form line at his past four attempts. He led out then took cover when a close second behind Terroroan at Shepparton last week and is capable of going one better here. BEAU BRONSKI (8) will appreciate his easiest assignment for some time and should be competitive despite being drawn on the second row. He worked hard to find the lead and peaked late when unplaced behind Sasscilian at Charlton last outing. PINNACLE HOPE (2) attempted to lead throughout when second behind VERY TEMPTING (6) two starts ago then followed with a fifth behind Terroroan last week. He is likely to end up being behind the leader here so he is worth an investment. CRAFTY OLD FOX (5) and VERY TEMPTING (6) are both racing well enough to be considered in an open race.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 1,2,5

SELECTIONS: PLAYNICE (4), BEAU BRONSKI (8), PINNACLE HOPE (2), VERY TEMPTING (6)

RATINGS: 4/ 2,8/ 5,6/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: PLAYNICE (4) each way

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: TEX GOES BANG (3) struck trouble and lost his chance at Shepparton last week. He was placed in two of his three starts prior and is usually competitive against this class so he is worth an investment. FAKE CULLECTION (7) is a speedy mare and will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment. She was placed behind the in-form pacer Kyloan Queen at Bendigo on July 24 and gets her chance to break through for her first win of the season here. OUR CHRISTIANO (8) attempted to hold the lead from the position early but ended up being behind the leader when third behind Olly Odd Potts at Shepparton last outing. She performs best over the sprint distance and should go well under these conditions. NOBLE JULIA (5) has been unplaced at her past three attempts but she was in good form prior including a victory at Shepparton on July 02 so she is worth a ticket each way.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,5,6

SELECTIONS: TEX GOES BANG (3), FAKE CULLECTION (7), OUR CHRISTIANO (8), NOBLE JULIA (5)

RATINGS: 3/ 7,8/ 5/ 1,4

SUGGESTED BET: TEX GOES BANG (3) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: FIELD OF POPPIES (4) was resuming since August 2023 when a handy fourth behind Talknplay last week. She should strip fitter from that performance and she strikes a suitable assignment so she must be respected. UNIT FORTY ONE (8) was narrowly beaten in successive seconds at Shepparton then followed with an unplaced run at Cranbourne, where he endured a tough run. He returns to Shepparton this evening and should give a bold showing. CRAZY ON THE BEACH (1) is a fast beginner and has used plenty of energy from the extreme draw at her past two attempts so she should be competitive from the pole position. The debutante CARRERA SERENA (2) must be kept safe and PINK SCOOTER (5) is racing well enough to figure in the finish.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3

SELECTIONS: FIELD OF POPPIES (4), UNIT FORTY ONE (8), CRAZY ON THE BEACH (1), PINK SCOOTER (5)

RATINGS: 4/ 8/ 1,5/ 2,3

SUGGESTED BET: FIELD OF POPPIES (4) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: ARGGGHHH (6) endured a tough trip and had excuses when unplaced behind Bay of Biscay at Melton last week. He finished off solidly for a close second behind the smart pacer Roadmaster at Melton prior and he appears to be very well placed against this line up. DIAMOND ECLIPSE (4) used plenty of energy at the start to hold the lead and eventually took cover when a creditable fifth at Melton last week. He is meeting an easier field now and rates as a value hope. SPIRIT OF ARION (2) finished hard when a close second at his Victorian debut and is backing up quickly from his effort at Melton on Friday night. His overall form is strong and he warrants respect. MONGIANA (1) and WEMADE FREO (3) are both capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 6

SELECTIONS: ARGGGHHH (6), DIAMOND ECLIPSE (4), SPIRIT OF ARION (2), MONGIANA (1)

RATINGS: 6/ 2,4/ 1/ 3/ 5

SUGGESTED BET: ARGGGHHH (6) to win
