OVERVIEW: CALF PEN (5) has done things wrong at his last two but was an impressive winner three and four back over the course and distance with his most recent victory being at this level. He was close-up behind the very talented Metro Assassin five back at Charlton and was third against better opposition in a trial at this venue last week. EASTBRO JESSE (7) has done well in his two runs so far this year. TERROR THE CHRISTIAN (10) resumed with a win at Globe Derby whilst DANNY RAY (1) and OZZIE DAYBREAK (9) rate next.

OVERVIEW: COURTNEY KATARINA (1) hasn’t won since June but is bursting to win and gets another good chance from the lowest barrier. She sat parked and fought on well for second on December 27 and 10 days earlier was an unlucky third with both efforts being over the course, distance and grade. Three runs back she was fourth against much stronger down at Bendigo. KEAYANG CRIPPA (8) has some confidence up with victories in two of his past three and rates highly after his recent Port Pirie victory. BEARTASTIC WRITER (9) and ROBERT CROCKA (2) rate next.

Race 3:
OVERVIEW: KALKADOON DREAMING (4) has ability but is still learning but and it will be interesting to see how he gets on at his first time on a half mile track. He made a mistake when favourite last start but was subsequently an eye-catching third in a Bendigo trial. WHATS GLENDA GOT (3) is good but quirky and has had a couple of gear changes following her latest run which was a $1.22 defeat. She wasn’t totally disgraced however and had caught the eye prior. CAPTAINS DREAM (5) and ELISSAS DELIGHT (9) are the other principal chances.

OVERVIEW: MISS ARTEMIS (1) is an interesting runner now prepared locally and whilst she hasn’t won for 14 months her recent Globe Derby form has been consistent so she must be given maximum respect from the draw. MACHSTIQUE (4) has finished in the second half of the field in each of her last three but prior to that she has second places to Terror The Christian and Shes Poppy which is great form. HESASTAR (7) is usually never far away and maps to enjoy an economical run. CHEERS POVERTY (3) is a great leader and rates next.

OVERVIEW: TWISTED BLISS (8) had each of her three runs last month on her home track which yielded a victory, an Elmore Cup fourth and a seventh on Cup night at metropolitan level. She is in great form and is the one to beat along with ANGUS INDIANA (7) who was two places behind TWISTED BLISS (8) in the Elmore Cup and no doubt his second splitting Tango Tara and Spirit Of Arion five back is the best piece of form on offer in this. LOUIEVILLE (2) is the best of the locals over KEAYANG MOROCCAN (6).

OVERVIEW: A ROCKNROLL JET (1) has is a good sit sprinter and enjoys this circuit with four of his 10 victories at this venue. He maps to get a great sit and can improve on his recent figure form. NOBLE TRICK (3) has done little wrong since moving down from New South Wales and was a good trial victor last week. He looks the leader and will prove hard to run down. BRUISED EGO (4) is going well and deserves a win. SIANGDI (7), LETS GOBIG GIRL (7) and AMYS BABY ANGEL (6) can all win too.

OVERVIEW: STONEBRIDGE STAR (8) contacted a sulky with 500 metres remaining at Swan Hill last start and subsequently broke stride losing many lengths before storming home and looking an unlucky loser. He is the most consistent horse in the field so as is probably per standard he looks the safest bet in this type of race from an each-way perspective. VILLAGE LOVER (3) just failed to peg back Dark Sands over the course, distance and grade at the last meeting here and rates highly as do both PUNTO CALIENTE (9) and UNETHICAL (2) on their best form.

OVERVIEW: OUR MASTER PLAY (8) is dropping back significantly in grade for this contest and is clearly one of the class runners. His last two runs at this venue yielded third places before finishing a close-up sixth at Swan Hill last start. DAYLIGHT (1) is a big danger from a much better draw however has had a few bad luck stories to tell in recent times. Hopefully she doesn’t on this occasion, and she gets every chance which may very well see her win. SUNSHINE WARRIOR (7) draws nicely behind DAYLIGHT (1) whilst DEEWHY (5) draws poorly.

In what is a tough race to close the card she should be able to hold up and she is a great leader at her best and was unlucky not to win three back. STEAL SOME TIME (7) draws behind her whilst CRUZ WITH ROME (9) and MUSTANG MAX (8) rate next.
