Shepparton, Tuesday 3 December

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: SHAZZA LOVE (10) has struck form with a second behind the in-form pacer Calypso Mistress followed by comfortable victories at Geelong and Cranbourne. She has commenced from the second line at her past two victories so the barrier draw doesn’t appear to be a major disadvantage and she should prove hard to beat again. NOMORELYING (8) followed some handy trial performances with an eye-catching first up second behind Ronnie The Hammer at Shepparton last week, where he was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished fast. He is awkwardly drawn but is ready to break through for a win. LILS NIGHTMARE (2) hasn’t been at her best form recently but she is a good chance of adopting her favourite role as being the pacemaker over the sprint distance so she gets her chance to improve. HONEST HARRIETTE (6), INTERPRETATION (7), OUR CHEEKY DEVIL (9) and FOXYONTHERUN (11) all have claims in an open race to commence the program.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,4

SELECTIONS: SHAZZA LOVE (10), NOMORELYING (8), LILS NIGHTMARE (2), INTERPRETATION (7)

RATINGS: 8,10/ 2/ 7/ 6,9,11

SUGGESTED BET: SHAZZA LOVE (10) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: CYCLONE BELLA (3) is resuming since July but will be fitter after three recent trial performances with the latest being a victory at Wagga in a mile rate of 1.56.1. She strikes a suitable assignment first up and must be rated highly. ONE FOR MIKI (1) is a first starter for trainer Paul Fidge, which has been performing fairly well at the trials and is drawn to receive every chance so she cannot be left out of calculations. JOHNNY TANG (8) settled midfield and wanted to race fiercely throughout the middle stages when a creditable fourth at Shepparton last week. He has been racing consistently and is worth thought under these conditions. SUMMER SCHOOL (10) worked hard in fast time at her latest fifth and is racing better than her record suggests so she is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 1,5,7

SELECTIONS: CYCLONE BELLA (3), ONE FOR MIKI (1), JOHNNY TANG (8), SUMMER SCHOOL (10)

RATINGS: 3/ 1,8/ 10/ 5,7/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: CYCLONE BELLA (3) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: SHEZABLUECHIP (4) was headed off at the start and ended up being three back on the markers when she worked home well along the sprint lane for third at Maryborough on Wednesday. She is racing consistently and deserves to break through for a win. AMBER ALERT (9) settled in the second half of the field from a poor draw and picked up ground late when fifth last week. She hasn’t been far away at her recent attempts and is worth a ticket each way. OUR MYSTERY BET (8) will appreciate a slight drop back in class on his recent performances and is a possible improver. JOEYS HANGOVER (5) used the pole position to his advantage to trail the leader when he finished second behind Celestial Zodiac last week. He is not as well drawn here but he did beat most of tonight’s rivals to the line in that event so he is worth thought again. KEEPCRACKINGJOKES (3) has been safely held in her three starts since a win at Albury in October but she gets her chance to bounce back into the winning list against this class.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely early leader), 3,5,6

SELECTIONS: SHEZABLUECHIP (4), AMBER ALERT (9), OUR MYSTERY BET (8), JOEYS HANGOVER (5)

RATINGS: 4/ 5,8,9/ 3/ 1,7/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: SHEZABLUECHIP (4) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: BET SHEZA LADY (1) settled three back on the inside, was held up for a run at a vital stage and used the sprint lane when a fast finishing fourth behind Our Cheeky Devil last week. She hasn’t finished further back than fourth at her past six attempts and is ready to break through for a win. TWILIGHT BEACH (2) is resuming since a fourth at Cobram in September but she led throughout at an Echuca trial victory last weekend and strikes a suitable assignment first up so she must be respected. CRESCO THREEPEAT (5) was suited by a genuine tempo being set throughout when he was able to grind out a victory in fast time at Wagga last week. He is a tough type and is worth thought again. THE MAJORS GIRL (6) finished off well from midfield when third last outing and is worth a ticket each way.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 3

SELECTIONS: BET SHEZA LADY (1), TWILIGHT BEACH (2), CRESCO THREEPEAT (5), THE MAJORS GIRL (6)

RATINGS: 1,2/ 5,6/ 8,9

SUGGESTED BET: BET SHEZA LADY (1) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: NATIONAL NEWS (8) is a very smart pacer when racing at his peak and he gets into this race nicely with a concession claim. He hasn’t really excelled at his two Shepparton trial attempts leading up to this race but he should be getting fitter and he was competing against strong opposition when he was last in work. DIEING ART (6) has had a few chances recently but she had no clear run and seemingly had plenty in reserve when an unlucky fifth in a strong race at Melton last week so she is worth an investment. MOST TRIUMPHANT (7) was a strong winner at Cobram two starts ago then attempted to sustain a long run when a brave third at Melton last week. She is poorly drawn but is racing too well to dismiss. CEE CEE LOU (1), BIG SLEDGE HAMMER (3) and ON THE HUNT (5) are all capable of showing up prominently in a strong race.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 3,5,7

SELECTIONS: NATIONAL NEWS (8), DIEING ART (6), MOST TRIUMPHANT (7), BIG SLEDGE HAMMER (3)

RATINGS: 8/ 6,7/ 1,3,5/ 4/ 2

SUGGESTED BET: DIEING ART (6) each way

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: FIELD OF POPPIES (5) pushed through from the second line, ended up being in the one out and one back trail and came out three horses wide from the 600m when she battled on well for second behind Miss Magik last week. She should be reaching her peak form after having two starts back from a break and she gets her chance to break through for a win here. CANT EATOVERS (3) settled three back on the markers and had little room in the straight when he should have finished a bit closer than fifth in the same race last week. He is yet to be placed in eight starts to date but his last run was encouraging. LORINO (1) finished well from midfield at her latest third. She was slow to begin from the pole position and was buried away on the markers when seventh at Charlton prior but she is a chance if she can hold a forward position at the start. STILL PLAYIN (7) had every chance when fourth last week but she was heavily supported so she must be kept safe.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader)

SELECTIONS: FIELD OF POPPIES (5), CANT EATOVERS (3), LORINO (1), STILL PLAYIN (7)

RATINGS: 5/ 3/ 1/ 7/ 2,6/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: FIELD OF POPPIES (5) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: IVAR (2) has a win and a second from four attempts from the standing start and he finished just over a length (4.5m) behind his main rival DHONI TROUBLE (6) from the mobile start last week so he can turn the tables with 30m separating them at the beginning of the race tonight. DHONI TROUBLE (6) has been trotting in good form having won two of his past three starts and he is capable of making a mid-race move once the pace slackens. He found the front and held his rivals safely at bay last outing. LIZZIES SON (3) galloped away at his only standing start attempt previously and he also galloped away from the mobile at his latest attempt but he is a handy type when he puts it altogether and has too much ability to dismiss. DANCES (4) disappointed after leading last week but she has only recently returned from a spell and is capable of a better performance.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely early leader), 1, 4 (20m)

SELECTIONS: IVAR (2), DHONI TROUBLE (6), LIZZIES SON (3), DANCES (4)

RATINGS: 2,6/ 3/ 4/ 7/ 1,5

SUGGESTED BET: IVAR (2) each way
