Form Analysis by Craig Rail

OVERVIEW: MY MOTHER SAID (8) finished strongly from midfield when second behind Reginalds Reign at Terang last week. This race is of similar standard and she is capable of going one better. KYVALLEY JOYRIDE (6) endured a wide trip and finished fifth at Maryborough last outing. He was placed at Bendigo prior and should continue to improve with the benefit of experience so he must be considered as a winning chance. TRICKY DIAMOND (3) gained a nice trail throughout and finished third in the race won by Reginalds Reign seven days ago. He is capable of filling a place again from the good draw. TARA TUFF (1) possesses early speed and is ideally drawn so she is a definite place chance.

OVERVIEW: AUSSIE MUSCLE (7) is resuming since a third at Yarra Valley in November 2023 but he recorded handy time when he won a Bacchus Marsh trial on Saturday and he strikes a suitable assignment first up so he must be respected. MAXIMEZ (5) is a tough 3yo that won comfortably at Charlton last outing and looms as the logical danger. He has been placed at his past five starts and should be prominent throughout. DAISY BOUCHEA (3) was able to hold the lead from the pole position and proved to be too strong at Terang last outing. She has won five races for the season and looms as one of the leading chances again. YOGI SON (8) has a few gait issues but he is a handy type when he is able to put it altogether so he cannot be discarded.

RATINGS: 7/ 3,5/ 8/ 4,6

Race 3:
OVERVIEW: REOFFENDER (5) is a very smart South Australian trotter, which is backing up from his effort in the Southern Cross Final at Globe Derby on Saturday night. He produced a very brave performance to win his heat of that series and he can be competitive against his Victorian rivals. MYSTERY FRED (8) has been racing at the elite level and is better than his numerical form reads. He finished fifth in the Super Series, seventh in the Tatlow Stakes and seventh in the Redwood Classic so he is likely to find this assignment to be easier. OLD DOMINION (1) is a fast beginner and is drawn to be prominent throughout. He pushed forward to find the lead and battled on well for third at Maryborough last week. KING OF KVINTET (2) and PRO HIBITION (3) both won nicely at their debut performances and are worth thought despite rising in class.

OVERVIEW: STARTIN TO GOGH (2) has been placed at his past four attempts and is drawn to go close. He finished off reasonably well for third behind Michaywey at Terang last week. HAPPENSTBABEACHBOY (5) is a first starter for trainer Ashleigh Herbertson, which impressively won a trial at Maryborough last week and must be respected. SPORTSBOU (10) is resuming since October 2023 but she was placed in fast time behind the in-form pacer Nice One Centurion at a Maryborough trial effort on Sunday so she must be kept safe. She met some very talented fillies in her efforts leading up to a spell. MALANI JOH (3) and HELLOVATIME (8) are both capable of showing up prominently without surprising.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 3,4

RATINGS: 2/ 5,10/ 8/ 3/ 4

Race 5:
OVERVIEW: WISH UPONA DREAM (6) had her chance in the St Arnaud Cup but she is meeting her main rivals better with the handicaps here and she is a very honest mare that usually steps away swiftly so she is worth a ticket each way. KYVALLEY HEIST (10) bounced back to winning form when he led throughout in the St Arnaud Cup. He drops back to the handicap of 10m now but he is a very quick beginner and is worth thought again. SUGA DADDY (3) ran along at a genuine tempo when narrowly beaten in a mile rate of 1.56.8 at Melton last week. He switches to the standing start and is rising in distance but he should take catching if he can bounce to the front. BLUE COMAN (9) followed a game win at Globe Derby with a fourth in the Swan Hill Cup and a sixth in the St Arnaud Cup. He is suited under these conditions and must be considered as one of the leading chances. EL RESAMO (11) is the class runner of the field and will take beating if he can get away cleanly but he is a risky beginner from the standing start.
EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 2,6
SELECTIONS: WISH UPONA DREAM (6), KYVALLEY HEIST (10), SUGA DADDY (3), BLUE COMAN (9)
RATINGS: 6,10/ 3/ 7,9,11/ 1

Race 6:
OVERVIEW: TINSEL TIARA (1) is a former Queensland pacer, which joins trainer Carson Millar. She recorded slick time in easily winning a Melton trial on Tuesday afternoon so she should take beating from the pole position. THELONGROADNOWHERE (8) ran his best race for some time when he finished off fast to finish second at Terang last week. He has the perfect trailing draw behind TINSEL TIARA (1) so he must be considered as a place chance again. MONSIEUR FLAMEL (5) began quickly and ended up being behind the leader when he scored in a mile rate of 1.56.8 at Melton last outing. He has several fast beginners drawn on his inside now but he should be competitive again. STARZINHEREYES (2) and FOREGONE CONCLUSION (4) are both racing well enough to figure in the finish.
EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 2,4,5
SELECTIONS: TINSEL TIARA (1), THELONGROADNOWHERE (8), MONSIEUR FLAMEL (5), STARZINHEREYES (2)
RATINGS: 1/ 2,5,8/ 3/ 4,7,9

Race 7:
OVERVIEW: RUDY GEE (2) began fast to find the lead, ran along at a genuine tempo and scored comfortably at Ballarat. He is drawn to lead again and will take catching. FRANCO NOVELIST (10) has returned from a break in exceptional form and will prove hard to beat but the barrier draw is a disadvantage. He smashed the track record when leading throughout at Ararat then sprinted quickly from off the speed at his latest success. SILVER MYSTIQUE (1) is working up to a win and finished off fast at her latest eye-catching second. She lacks early speed but will be dangerous if she can hold the back of the leader in the early stages. MAXY WANTS TO PLAY (9) is a strong pacer and should be suited over the staying distance. He tried to sustain a long run when a game third in his heat performance so he warrants respect. KENDYS BUTTERFLY (8) should receive an economical run from the inside of the second line and is not without a chance.
EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 4,5
SELECTIONS: RUDY GEE (2), FRANCO NOVELIST (10), SILVER MYSTIQUE (1), MAXY WANTS TO PLAY (9)
RATINGS: 2/ 10/ 1,8,9/ 3/ 4,5
SUGGESTED BET: RUDY GEE (2) to win
Race 8:
OVERVIEW: ELATED (9) broke stride on the home turn and lost his chance when unplaced at Wagga last week. He performed extremely well at the Shepparton trials prior and he attracted plenty of support first up so he must be given another chance. RUEBE STARBUCK (8) began quickly to lead and ran along at a very genuine tempo when she scored by a large margin at Cranbourne last outing. She is rising from the maiden class and drops back to the second line now but she was very impressive last time out so she is worth thought again. RAZS VEYRON (1) has performed fairly well at his two starts back from a break and showed good early speed at Maryborough on Wednesday afternoon so he is worth an investment. SHE WILL WANTANO (7) is an honest mare and has claims despite the wide draw while SWISS LIGHTNING (10) has the speed to figure in the finish.
