Melton, Friday 29 November

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: ALOT LIKE LOUIE (11) will appreciate a significant drop back in class on his latest unplaced effort in the Super Series Final and he should be competitive despite being first up without going to the trials. DENNY (8) will be relying on CALYPSO MISTRESS (1) holding a forward position at the start but he had little luck and did well at his first up fifth so he cannot be left out of calculations. KATHYS FREE (10) finished off best from the second half of the field to win at Melton last week and is racing in career best form so she must be included amongst the leading chances. AZOR AHAI (9) won nicely at Mildura last time and CALYPSO MISTRESS (1) has never raced better and is drawn to receive every chance.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,3

SELECTIONS: ALOT LIKE LOUIE (11), DENNY (8), KATHYS FREE (10), AZOR AHAI (9)

RATINGS: 11/ 8,10/ 9/ 1/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: ALOT LIKE LOUIE (11) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: UNIQUELY IDEAL (5) has had four starts since returning from a spell and each performance was at feature race level. She made ground and finished fourth in the Breeders Crown Final at her latest attempt so she does appear to be ideally placed against this grade. WHERE IS WOODY (8) is awkwardly drawn but he will also appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and he should be finding the line strongly. NICE ONE CENTURION (4) was aggressively driven to move up on the outside of the leader and battled on courageously to win at Bendigo in a mile rate of 1.55.7 last week. This race is a little harder but he is worth thought again. OZZIE JOYBELL (9) produced a strong finishing burst to win last outing and is worth thought along with HIGHLANDHARTBREAKA (2), which has ability but is still learning.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible early leader), 5,6

SELECTIONS: UNIQUELY IDEAL (5), WHERES WOODY (8), NICE ONE CENTURION (4), HIGHLANDHARTBREAKA (2)

RATINGS: 5/ 4,8/ 2,9/ 1,7

SUGGESTED BET: UNIQUELY IDEAL (5) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: TECHYS WATCHING (5) is resuming since striking trouble and losing his chance in a heat of the Super Series back in August. He finished second in the 2023 Super Series Grand Final and boasts a very good strike rate so a bold showing is expected first up. CAPTAIN MAASTRICHT (6) was very unlucky after having no clear run when fifth at Melton last week. He trounced his rivals in fast time prior so he is worth another chance. DESSIE GEE (8) was resuming since February when he ran a creditable fourth behind Tango Tara at Bendigo. He should be fitter from that run and his overall form is sound so he must be respected. OZZIE PUNTA (7) is a tough type, which took on a very strong field at Metropolitan level last outing and must be included amongst the leading chances.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (likely leader), 2,4,6

SELECTIONS: TECHYS WATCHING (5), CAPTAIN MAASTRICHT (6), DESSIE GEE (8), OZZIE PUNTA (7)

RATINGS: 5/ 6,8/ 7/ 2,3

SUGGESTED BET: TECHYS WATCHING (5) to win

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: LOUROCKLOUROLL (2) is a nicely bred first starter for trainer Emma Stewart, which was runner up at a recent Melton trial performance and is ideally drawn first up so he must be included amongst the leading chances. CAPTAIN PERFECT (7) was safely held during the Breeders Crown series but he was having his first two attempts at the races and this is a much easier assignment so he is expected to show improvement. The Andy Gath trained pacers POSTERIZED (3) and OLLIES THE BOSS (4) have both performed very well at the trials leading up to their debut efforts and cannot be left out of calculations. SPEEDY HEALEY (9) is an experienced maiden but his past two performances have been sound and he should be finding the line strongly.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,7

SELECTIONS: LOUROCKLOUROLL (2), CAPTAIN PERFECT (7), POSTERIZED (3), OLLIES THE BOSS (4)

RATINGS: 2/ 3,4,7/ 9/ 1,8/ 5,6

SUGGESTED BET: Boxed Trifecta 2,3,4,7,9 (Cost $20, gives 33.33%)

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: PICTURE US ROLLIN (7) is a brilliant beginner and has created a good impression in his five starts to date. He led throughout to win his heat of this series and should prove hard to beat again. YANKEE GAMBLER (4) worked hard and did a great job to finish second in his heat. He won at his only start at Melton previously and appears to be a good each way bet. LIKEABLE ROGUE (9) won four races in succession prior to an unlucky sixth in his heat. He came out extremely wide on the home turn and was finishing off well so he is worth another chance. SENNA STORM (13) found the front and comfortably won the opening heat of this series then had no luck whatsoever in heat two. He is poorly drawn but he has too much ability to dismiss.

EARLY SPEED: 7 (likely leader), 1,5,6

SELECTIONS: PICTURE US ROLLIN (7), YANKEE GAMBLER (4), LIKEABLE ROGUE (9), SENNA STORM (13)

RATINGS: 7/ 4,9/ 13/ 2,6/ 11,12

SUGGESTED BET: PICTURE US ROLLIN (7) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: LEANNE LEEANN (10) finished strongly from a long way back and ran a big race when a game third in her heat of this series. She has generally been competing at a higher level so she appears to be a good value bet. NOBLE COUNT (6) has returned from a break in peak form and progressed forward from a wide gate when a strong heat winner of this series. He is likely to progress forward at the start again and should go well. ROMANTIC NINA (3) ran an unlucky third in the heat won by NOBLE COUNT (6) and her overall form is strong considering she has won six races for the season. She is a speedy mare and is worth thought. AI SEDAI (8) is poorly drawn but she must be respected considering she won a heat of the series while MIELICKI (11) and PARIS JAMILA (12) should both be finishing off well.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely early leader), 3,6

SELECTIONS: LEANNE LEEANN (10), NOBLE COUNT (6), ROMANTIC NINA (3), AI SEDAI (8)

RATINGS: 6,10/ 3,8/ 1,11,12

SUGGESTED BET: LEANNE LEEANN (10) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: CHINSKI (6) utilized his gate speed to find the markers shortly after the start and finished off nicely for second at Melton last week. He beat the remainder of the field by a large margin so he is capable of going one better now. KYVALLEY PAINT (5) was doing his best work at the end and worked into third behind Right of Reply last week. This is a race of similar standard and he is worth thought again. CHRISTMAS BABE (4) finished fourth in the same race as CHINSKI (6) and KYVALLEY PAINT (5) last week and should give another forward showing. She is a brilliant beginner and is likely to find the lead shortly after the start. DICKO DIXON (1), KYVALLEY SURFRIDER (2) and DA PREZ (3) are all worth thought in multiple combinations.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader) 2,6

SELECTIONS: CHINSKI (6), KYVALLEY PAINT (5), CHRISTMAS BABE (4), KYVALLEY SURFRIDER (2)

RATINGS: 6/ 4,5/ 2/ 1,3/ 8/ 7

SUGGESTED BET: CHINSKI (6) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: SPUN SILVER (2) is a brilliant beginner and is a 1200m specialist so she has the conditions to suit her here. She was runner up behind ISLAND CAESAR (7) at her last attempt over the short distance and is drawn to run another forward race. SOUTHPAW SLUGGER (10) is an interesting runner. He is a former Mildura pacer that joins trainer Freddy Taiba. He tends to race very fiercely so being along to stride in a one lap dash should suit him. ISLAND CAESAR (7) will find this race to be much easier than his latest unplaced effort in the Yarra Valley Cup. He is a proven winner over the sprint trip and should make his presence felt. IMA CHARMA (3) is a fast beginner and has claims along with OUR TRUE COLOURS (5) and BREATHE EASY (6).

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 3,7,10

SELECTIONS: SPUN SILVER (2), SOUTHPAW SLUGGER (10), ISLAND CAESAR (7), IMA CHARMA (3)

RATINGS: 2/ 7,10/ 3,5,6/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: SPUN SILVER (2) each way
