Bendigo, Wednesday 13 November

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: STARTIN TO GOGH (2) produced a very strong performance when a close third in a tough race at Bendigo last outing. He was runner up at Hamilton prior behind the highly talented pacer Golden Tribe so he should prove hard to beat. SHOTINTHEDARK (3) gained a nice trail but chased hard for third behind Viney in a slick mile rate of 1.56.2 at Melton last outing. He is a promising maiden and appears to be one of the leading chances. TOTALLY STUNNING (8) is awkwardly drawn on the inside of the second line but she ran a much sharper race at her second career start behind Guaranteed End at Cobram so she should be finishing off well. CARRY ON CORNISH (4) didn’t have much luck when eighth at her debut and was performing well at the trials prior so she is a possible improver.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 3

SELECTIONS: STARTIN TO GOGH (2), SHOTINTHEDARK (3), TOTALLY STUNNING (8), CARRY ON CORNISH (4)

RATINGS: 2,3/ 4,8/ 7,9

SUGGESTED BET: STARTIN TO GOGH (2) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: It is an open race for the maiden trotters with several winning chances. KING OF KVINTET (7) is a first starter for trainer Alison Alford that raced greenly but performed nicely at a recent Melton trial victory so he gets the nod. KYVALLEY JENNY (1) appeared to have her chance when a distant third at her debut but she met a handy field in the race won by Aldebaran Abel and she is drawn to receive every chance again so she must be respected. NOTHING HITSHARDER (4) is a debutante for trainer Neville Pangrazio, which has shown some ability at the trials but is still learning. He finished second at his latest performance and is worth thought. TRIXIE (2) was a genuine place hope in the home straight at her debut but she broke stride with 100m remaining and lost her chance. She is perfectly drawn and is a winning chance if she is on her best behaviour.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,4

SELECTIONS: KING OF KVINTET (7), KYVALLEY JENNY (1), NOTHING HITSHARDER (4), TRIXIE (2)

RATINGS: 7/ 1,2,4/ 5/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: KING OF KVINTET (7) each way

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: MARLO MAREAU (2) finished fast when a big second behind Secret Sea at Wagga last week and should prove hard to beat under these conditions. SNOW HUNTER (8) returns to trainer Geoff Webster after a long stint in Queensland. She will appreciate a significant drop back in class for this assignment and has the speed to make her presence felt. NETRA (6) is resuming since a Kilmore victory in July. She has performed nicely since coming from New Zealand and should give a forward showing at her first run for trainer Jodi Quinlan. GUARANTEED SECRET (1) and TOPSIES BLING (4) are both capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,6

SELECTIONS: MARLO MAREAU (2), SNOW HUNTER (8), NETRA (6), TOPSIES BLING (4)

RATINGS: 2/ 6,8/ 4/ 1/ 7

SUGGESTED BET: MARLO MAREAU (2) to win

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: IFYOULOVEMELETMEGO (5) is working back to her best form having been runner up at her past two attempts. She was held up for a run at a vital stage, ducked back to the sprint lane and finished solidly for second behind the in-form pacer Nai Harn Bay at Bendigo last week. TOOBY GOLD (6) has had no luck whatsoever at her most recent performances and is worth an investment. She worked to the front when she scored at Echuca four starts ago. SPUN SILVER (4) is a fast beginner and is a short course specialist. She chased hard from the back of the leader when second behind Country Rockstar in a race of similar standard last week. NOTHING SWEETER (3) is racing consistently and is usually competitive against this class so she is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible early leader), 1,2,3,6

SELECTIONS: IFYOULOVEMELETMEGO (5), TOOBY GOLD (6), SPUN SILVER (4), NOTHING SWEETER (3)

RATINGS: 5/ 4,6/ 3/ 2/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: IFYOULOVEMELETMEGO (5) each way

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: OZZIE PUNTA (8) is a strong staying type, which competed at Metropolitan level last outing and will find this event to be more suitable. He moved up without cover and proved to be too strong for ROCCO AMERICANO (7) at a Kilmore victory two starts ago. TWISTING BY (1) recorded fast time in winning the Super Series Silver event at Bendigo last outing and is drawn to receive every chance so he must be respected. ROCCO AMERICANO (7) has performed very well at his three starts since returning from a long spell and should be competitive again. He worked hard to find the lead when he scored two starts ago and drew poorly at his latest fourth behind Quaddie VC. KITSUNE (2) is stepping up in class but is racing in career best form so he cannot be underestimated.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,7

SELECTIONS: OZZIE PUNTA (8), TWISTING BY (1), ROCCO AMERICANO (7), KITSUNE (2)

RATINGS: 8/ 1,7/ 2/ 3,4/ 5

SUGGESTED BET: OZZIE PUNTA (8) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: PETE MITCHELL (2) has been placed in 9 of his past 12 starts and he has the early speed to be prominent throughout. He progressed forward to find the lead when a close second behind Best Back Bruce at Ballarat last outing. SPORTS NARRATOR (1) has been racing nicely against stronger opposition and is ideally drawn so he must be considered as a winning chance. OZZIE JOYBELL (8) finished fast out wide on the track to claim victory at Bendigo on October 16. She hasn’t had much luck in three starts since and is worth another chance. COUNTRY ROCKSTAR (3) led throughout to win at Shepparton last week and has claims along with APIECEOFLOU (7).

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 3,4,5

SELECTIONS: PETE MITCHELL (2), SPORTS NARRATOR (1), OZZIE JOYBELL (8), COUNTRY ROCKSTAR (3)

RATINGS: 1,2/ 8/ 3,7

SUGGESTED BET: SPORTS NARRATOR (1) each way

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: SALSBOY (4) finished off best to snare victory on the line when he defeated Terroroan at Maryborough last outing. He is a handy sprinter and will appreciate competing in a small field of seven runners so he should prove hard to beat again. MARAKO SHARK (2) worked out of the gate early before gaining cover when a handy third behind Country Rockstar last week. He is yet to win in 13 starts for the season but his last run was encouraging. I SEE IRIS (1) is a fast beginner and led throughout to win over Ozzie Joybell on October 02. She does race best when performing over the sprint distance but she is drawn to go the well. HEAVENS GIFT (6) produced a career best performance to win at Cobram after she showed brilliant gate speed to find the lead shortly after the start. This race is a little harder but she is worth thought again.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3,6

SELECTIONS: SALSBOY (4), MARAKO SHARK (2), I SEE IRIS (1), HEAVENS GIFT (6)

RATINGS: 4/ 1,2/ 6/ 3/ 5,7

SUGGESTED BET: SALSBOY (4) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: JANSU (2) is racing in career best form having been placed at her past six starts (4 wins) and is drawn to find her favourite position in the front running role. She led throughout to win comfortably at Shepparton last week. CASA ALBERTA (5) battled on well after working hard when third behind Romantic Nina at Maryborough last outing. She continues to improve with the benefit of experience and she should be competitive again. FROSTY GIRL (7) is a former New South Wales trained trotter, which broke stride at Ararat when making her local debut. She ran a better race when second at Swan Hill last outing and is worth thought again. THE VICARS GIRL (1) is likely to land the perfect position behind JANSU (2) and she finished quickly to win at Bendigo on October 16 so she is worth an investment.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,4

SELECTIONS: JANSU (2), CASA ALBERTA (5), FROSTY GIRL (7), THE VICARS GIRL (1)

RATINGS: 2/ 5,7/ 1/ 3,4/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: JANSU (2) to win
