Melton, Friday 8 November

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: LET HER ROLL (2) finished second in the Super Series last outing and should prove very hard to beat from the good draw. She has had five wins and two seconds out of seven starts and has the early speed to find the lead shortly after the start. SUGAR PIE HONEY (9) won the Breeders Challenge Final at Menangle last outing and looms as the logical danger. She has won four of her seven starts to date and should receive a lovely trip through behind LET HER ROLL (2) at the start. NAMAKA (4) was narrowly beaten in a semi-final of the Breeders Challenge before being unplaced in the Final after she endured a tough run. She is a classy New South Wales trained filly and should make her presence felt. LILLY LOTUS (7) is terribly drawn but she ran a cracking race when second in the Tatlow Stakes last week, where she was held up for a run at a vital stage, so she is capable of running into a place.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 3,4,6

SELECTIONS: LET HER ROLL (2), SUGAR PIE HONEY (9), NAMAKA (4), LILLY LOTUS (7)

RATINGS: 2/ 9/ 4/ 3,6/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: LET HER ROLL (2) to win

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: VINEY (1) was resuming since April when he sustained a long run and scored nicely at Melton last week. This is a much harder race but he is a good chance of ending up being behind the leader and he should have benefited from his first up performance. GOLDEN TRIBE (2) is a fast beginner and won two races in succession prior to his latest fourth in the Tatlow Stakes, where he copped plenty of pressure in the leading role. He is a strong front running pacer and is drawn to suit his racing pattern. FAIRPLAY (5) is resuming since a debut victory at Bendigo in June but he will be fitter after a recent trial second at Ballarat and he is with the leading Emma Stewart stable so he should run a good race. CROCODILE SOCKS (7) is a strong colt, which has been placed in five of his six starts to date. He finished off solidly for third in the Super Series Silver event at his latest attempt and he should go well again.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,4,5,7

SELECTIONS: VINEY (1), GOLDEN TRIBE (2), FAIRPLAY (5), CROCODILE SOCKS (7)

RATINGS: 1,2/ 5/ 7/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: VINEY (1) each way

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: HESITATE (2) gained a nice trail and angled wide on the home turn when a big winner of the Tatlow Stakes last outing. He has done a great job throughout the season and is very strong so he should prove hard to beat again. ARSENIO (8) is awkwardly drawn but he did well to make it through to the Super Series Final, where he finished off nicely for sixth (6m) so he has the class to match it with this line up. SCHWARZ (3) got into trouble early, settled in the second half of the field and finished fast when an eye-catching second in the Tatlow Stakes. He finished fourth in the Sapling Stakes prior and he is a promising maiden so he must be respected. Trainer Emma Stewart has numerous other competitors including the debutante CAPTAIN PERFECT (1), which was runner up at a recent Ballarat trial effort, RAY DAN (7), which won well first up for the stable and the undefeated BEST EVER BLING (9).

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,4,7

SELECTIONS: HESISTATE (2), ARSENIO (8), SCHWARZ (3), RAY DAN (7)

RATINGS: 2/ 3,8/ 7,9

SUGGESTED BET: HESITATE (2) to win

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: SOME AMERICAN (6) has shown terrific gate speed at his most recent appearances and has been runner up six times in succession including efforts in the Super Series and Derby Finals. He is drawn on the outside of two of the major chances but he deserves to break through for a win. BAY OF BISCAY (5) endured a tough run and battled on strongly for fourth in the Victoria Derby. He was runner up in the Queensland Derby in July and he is very strong so he must be included amongst the leading chances. KINGMAN (1) worked forward to find the front and never appeared to be in any danger of defeat when he won the Tasmanian Derby on Saturday night. He is likely to be headed off at the start but he is strong enough to be in the finish. KING REPELLERE (7) made it through to the Super Series Final so he has the ability to be competitive at this level.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (likely leader), 1,3,5

SELECTIONS: SOME AMERICAN (6), BAY OF BISCAY (5), KINGMAN (1), KING REPELLERE (7)

RATINGS: 6/ 5/ 1,7/ 3,8

SUGGESTED BET: SOME AMERICAN (6) each way

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: MIKI TO SUCCESS (4) won the Super Series Final after working hard then gaining a trail and had a similar run in transit when third in the Victoria Derby. He has won seven of his twelve starts for the season and is the horse to beat again. COLLECTIVE WORKS (2) has done a great job since coming from New South Wales and he finished brilliantly when an eye-catching second in the Tasmanian Derby last week. He is perfectly drawn and should give a forward showing. SIR JIMMY (8) defeated Some American in a heat of the Super Series, followed with a third behind Kingman in a semi-final and was tenth in the Group 1 Final. He is a speedy pacer and will be suited by the trailing draw so he must be rated highly. RAVISHING SLOY (3) finished fourth in the Breeders Challenge Final at Menangle last outing and has claims along with STORMRYDER (7), which was a Group 1 winner as a juvenile.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely early leader), 3,7

SELECTIONS: MIKI TO SUCCESS (4), COLLECTIVE WORKS (2), SIR JIMMY (8), RAVISHING SLOY (3)

RATINGS: 4/ 2,8/ 3/ 7/ 5/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: MIKI TO SUCCESS (4) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: KISS (1) is a very strong filly that worked hard when she finished fourth in the Super Series Final and followed with a second in the Victoria Oaks. She may be headed off at the start but she deserves to break through for a win. WATERFRONT (2) remains undefeated in nine Australian starts with eight of her victories being in Tasmania. She effortlessly took out the Tasmanian Oaks last week so she should prove very hard to beat again. GOLLY GEE FELLAS (4) produced a stunning performance to win the Breeders Challenge at Menangle in a mile of 1.50.5 from her wide draw at her latest attempt. She is a classy New South Wales trained filly and should make her presence felt. SWEET IDEAL (5) is an exciting filly that has won five of her six starts to date. This is her toughest test but she cannot be underestimated.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 4

SELECTIONS: KISS (1), WATERFRONT (2), GOLLY GEE FELLAS (4), SWEET IDEAL (5)

RATINGS: 1,2/ 4/ 5/ 7/ 6/ 3

SUGGESTED BET: KISS (1) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: STITCHED UP DAN (5) produced a big finishing burst when second behind Showsomejoy in the Super Series Final three starts ago. She didn’t finish off as expected when unplaced in the Victoria Oaks last outing but the drop back in distance and the small field are a definite advantage to her chances here. EUREKA JO (1) led out then took cover when a close second in a heat of the Victoria Oaks two starts ago then finished fifth in the Final. She is ideally drawn and will take beating under these conditions. SWEETNIKKILOU (4) never seemed to be travelling well but rallied in the latter stages when fourth at Horsham last outing. She is a tough mare and boasts a handy record so she is worth another chance. BUBBY TO BASE (6) is a minor place chance despite the wide draw.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3,4

SELECTIONS: STITCHED UP DAN (5), EUREKA JO (1), SWEETNIKKILOU (4), BUBBY TO BASE (6)

RATINGS: 5/ 1,4/ 6/ 3/ 2

SUGGESTED BET: STITCHED UP DAN (5) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: SAYDIE (7) is still learning but she has a lot of ability and will take beating if she delivers a fool proof display. She overcame a tough run to win impressively at Bendigo last outing. FLYIN TIME (4) led out then took cover and finished off best to win at Shepparton last outing. She should have improved with the run and looms as one of the leading chances again. NOBLE COUNT (6) was resuming since July when he finished off fast through the middle and ran second at Ballarat. He has had a few chances since coming from New Zealand but a repeat of his first up run will see him going close to winning. TOUGHER (3) began well to lead but broke stride approaching the home turn and lost her chance when seventh at Ballarat. She is a nicely bred mare and has more ability than her form reads so she cannot be discarded.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,2,4

SELECTIONS: SAYDIE (7), FLYIN TIME (4), NOBLE COUNT (6), TOUGHER (3)

RATINGS: 7/ 4,6/ 3/ 1,2

SUGGESTED BET: SAYDIE (7) to win

Race 9:

OVERVIEW: DEUCE COUPE (7) is capable of sprinting to the line quickly with the right trail forward and should be suited to competing in a small field of seven runners. He was runner up in a slick mile rate of 1.56.0 at Geelong two starts ago. MON SOLEIL (4) gained a nice trail and worked to the line well when second behind Hurrikane Dusty last outing. He led throughout at a Maryborough victory in September and should be prominent throughout from his good draw. LETSGO MATILDA (1) is a strong mare that didn’t have much luck from a wide draw at her first run for trainer Corey Bell. She has run some big races at Mildura and should be very competitive from the pole position. BURNING TICKETS (2) ran home nicely for second behind Epic Orion two starts ago then had no clear run when fifth at Geelong last week. She has claims in an open race to end the program.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 4

SELECTIONS: DEUCE COUPE (7), MON SOLEIL (4), LETSGO MATILDA (1), BURNING TICKETS (2)

RATINGS: 7/ 4/ 1,2/ 3,6/ 5

SUGGESTED BET: DEUCE COUPE (7) each way
