Cranbourne, Sunday 20 October

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: WOTDIDUSAAAY (13) produced a strong performance to win at his second run back from a spell and is tough enough to overcome the extreme draw. He was competitive at Country Cups level when he was last in work. CREDULOUS (10) was very unlucky at Kilmore last outing, where she settled three back on the inside, was held up badly for a run until the final 100m and stormed along the sprint lane. She is racing in good form and is worth an investment. BART BENTLEY (6) did well to finish second behind WOTDIDUSAAAY (13) in the Cranbourne heat of this series as he raced very fiercely in the early stages. He worked to the front and scored at Cranbourne prior so he is likely to give another forward showing. BIZNESS CLASS (7) came from last to defeat CAN FEEL THE FURY (12) at Kilmore so he cannot be left out of calculations. TRIPLE VINNIES (8) is also a winning hope in a good race to commence the program.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (possible leader), 1,5

SELECTIONS: WOTDIDUSAAAY (13), CREDULOUS (10), BART BENTLEY (6), BIZNESS CLASS (7)

RATINGS: 10,13/ 6/ 7,8,12/ 2,9

SUGGESTED BET: WOTDIDUSAAAY (13) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: AUCKLAND RED (5) began quickly to find the lead and dashed home in a quick last quarter of 28.1 seconds to win at Echuca then followed with a close second at Cranbourne. He missed out in a harder race last outing and is worth another chance. NO EMOTION (1) has performed well at his two starts for trainer Michael Gadsden with placed efforts at Swan Hill and Charlton. He is perfectly drawn and should go well again. ROYAL CADENCE (2) should be getting fitter after having two starts back from a spell. She appeared to have her chance when fourth at Yarra Valley last outing but she strikes a suitable assignment now. THE ROAN RANGER (4) had little luck after being caught wide early and restraining to a rearward position last outing. He was a winner at Melton four starts ago and is capable of showing up prominently against this class.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (likely leader), 1,7

SELECTIONS: AUCKLAND RED (5), NO EMOTION (1), ROYAL CADENCE (2), THE ROAN RANGER (4)

RATINGS: 5/ 1/ 2,4/ 3,6/ 7

SUGGESTED BET: AUCKLAND RED (5) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: GROOM (3) is drawn to adopt his favourite role as being the pacemaker over his preferred distance of 1609m so he should take catching. He was a winner under similar conditions at Cranbourne on August 04. ALPHA CRUCIS (7) began well and ended up being behind the leader when third behind Our Christiano at Cranbourne last outing. He was a winner at Echuca three starts ago and this race is no harder so he must be considered as a winning chance. SASSCILIAN (1) will appreciate his best draw for a very long time and he recorded a mile rate of 1.56.7 when he scored at Charlton on August 19 so he must be considered as a winning chance. ADMIRALOFTHEFLEET (4) finished only two lengths behind Madigan in a heat of the Super Series three starts ago so if he can repeat that performance, he will be very competitive under these conditions.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 6,7

SELECTIONS: GROOM (3), ALPHA CRUCIS (7), SASSCILIAN (1), ADMIRALOFTHEFLEET (4)

RATINGS: 3/ 7/ 1,4/ 6/ 2/ 5

SUGGESTED BET: GROOM (3) to win

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: SPIRITED LASS (5) broke stride in the score up and did plenty of chasing so she put in a big performance when fourth (3m) behind Mont Sally at Cranbourne last outing. She scored comfortably at Cranbourne prior and is clearly the horse to beat if she delivers a fool proof display. BLANCO CANYON (3) won twice in succession at Cranbourne in August/September and took on much harder opposition at his latest sixth. He is usually competitive against this class and looms as one of the leading chances. ESS KAY HOLLYWOOD (2) hasn’t produced his best form for some time but he has been competitive at a much higher level previously. He is a fast beginner and gets his chance to improve on his numerical form here. MACHO MAORI (1) has been placed at his past two attempts against similar opposition and is worth thought again.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (likely leader), 1,4,5

SELECTIONS: SPIRITED LASS (5), BLANCO CANYON (3), ESS KAY HOLLYWOOD (2), MACHO MAORI (1)

RATINGS: 5/ 2,3/ 1/ 4/ 6,7

SUGGESTED BET: SPIRITED LASS (5) to win

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: HEZA DOOZIE (1) is a nicely bred debutante for trainer Geoff Walker, which scored at a recent Cranbourne trial effort and strikes a suitable field first up. LOMBOK (5) performed reasonably well at the trials prior to a debut fourth behind Jetter Son in handy time at Mildura. She should have benefited by the experience and looms as one of the leading chances. PERFECT PEACH (8) is a juvenile filly taking on older horses but she has the perfect trailing draw behind HEZA DOOZIE (1) so she is likely to receive every chance. SHANDIIN BEACH (2) makes her debut for trainer Zac Steenhuis and she ran a better race when a close second behind Dark Sands at Mildura last outing so she is not without a chance from her good draw.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,4

SELECTIONS: HEZA DOOZIE (1), LOMBOK (5), PERFECT PEACH (8), SHANDIIN BEACH (2)

RATINGS: 1/ 5/ 2,8/ 3,7/ 4,6

SUGGESTED BET: HEZA DOOZIE (1) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: HEY GOYOUGOODTHING (5) is backing up quickly from his effort at Melton on Friday night but he should prove hard to beat against this line up. He was held up for a run at a vital stage and finished off fast when a game second behind Banksofthemurray at Ballarat on October 03. MASTER REMI (6) pushed forward to race without cover and battled on strongly for a close up third behind Rockaway Beach last outing. He has improved with every run since resuming and is ready to break through for a win. DRESSED IN GOLD (3) is a former New South Wales pacer, which joins trainer Freddy Taiba. He was a winner at Shepparton in May and boasts a career best mile rate of 1.54.0 so he must be respected. IMA CHARMA (1) faces a steep rise in class but she is a fast beginner and has won three of her past four starts so she cannot be left out of calculations.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 3

SELECTIONS: HEY GOYOUGOODTHING (5), MASTER REMI (6), DRESSED IN GOLD (3), IMA CHARMA (1)

RATINGS: 5,6/ 3/ 1/ 2/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: HEY GO YOUGOODTHING (5) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: MACHANE SAID (6) will appreciate a significant drop back in class for this assignment and should prove hard to beat. He finished second behind Bart Bentley at Cranbourne two starts ago then broke stride and lost his chance last outing. BETTORPATCHMEUP (4) was confidently supported at his first up run since June and tried to sustain a long run from the 800m but broke stride in the latter stages at Charlton. He is also dropping back in class and is worth another chance. OLIVIA ROSE (3) delivered a career best performance when she shot down the back straight to hit the lead and sustained the run to score comfortably in a mile of 1.56.0 at Geelong. This race is harder but a repeat performance will see her go close to winning again. ISLAND CAESAR (5) has won three races recently and possesses early speed so he is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 5 (possible leader), 1

SELECTIONS: MACHANE SAID (6), BETTORPATCHMEUP (4), OLIVIA ROSE (3), ISLAND CAESAR (5)

RATINGS: 4,6/ 3/ 5/ 2/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: MACHANE SAID (6) to win
