Bendigo, Wednesday 16 October

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: EMER (1) finished off well for third at Maryborough last outing and will appreciate her best draw for some time. She was a winner at Bendigo on September 04 and should go close again. ANGELSHAVTIME (7) is poorly drawn but she is working up to a win against this class. She was confidently supported and just failed to gun down Khans Creed via the sprint lane at Maryborough last outing. KIA ORA BEAUTY (11) performs best when she is close to the speed so the barrier draw is a disadvantage but she will appreciate a massive drop back in class for this assignment and should improve on her numerical form. KATHYS FREE (10) produced a career best performance after using plenty of energy at the start when she won at Bendigo last outing and she is worth thought again.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 1,3,5

SELECTIONS: EMER (1), ANGELSHAVTIME (7), KIA ORA BEAUTY (11), KATHYS FREE (10)

RATINGS: 1,7/ 11/ 10/ 4,5

SUGGESTED BET: EMER (1) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: OZZIE JOYBELL (10) should be ready to strike peak form after having two starts back from a spell and she finished off fast for third at Kilmore last week. She was beaten by I SEE IRIS (4) when she was resuming but she is capable of turning the tables. I SEE IRIS (4) was able to win against similar opposition last outing after she led throughout. She is drawn to find the lead again and should take catching. KYLOAN QUEEN (7) endured a torrid trip and battled on well when sixth in the Heidi George Classic. Her overall form is sound so she is worth another chance. TOOBY GOLD (8) won a heat of the Heidi George Classic then had little luck in Final. She is awkwardly drawn but looms as one of the leading chances.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 3,5,7

SELECTIONS: OZZIE JOYBELL (10), I SEE IRIS (4), KYLOAN QUEEN (7), TOOBY GOLD (8)

RATINGS: 4,10/ 7,8/ 5,9

SUGGESTED BET: OZZIE JOYBELL (10) to win

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: STAR DOWN UNDER (9) took on the open class trotters when resuming June and finished ninth behind Ollivici. This is a massive drop back in class and he is very strong when he is at his peak so he warrants consideration. NAKEDTRUTH (4) ran a good race for second behind Aldebaran Boyd in a slick mile rate of 1.57.8 at Geelong after a victory over the 1200m at Melton. He performs best over the sprint distance and should give a bold showing from his good draw. SISTA EVARISTA (7) won at Melton on July 26 and hasn’t had much luck in three starts since. She is a speedy mare and has claims despite the wide draw. WHOS THE MAN (6) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and used plenty of energy in the early stages when unplaced last week so he cannot be left out of calculations.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (possible leader), 2,5

SELECTIONS: STAR DOWN UNDER (9), NAKEDTRUTH (4), SISTA EVARISTA (7), WHOS THE MAN (6)

RATINGS:9/ 4,7/ 6/ 2,8

SUGGESTED BET: STAR DOWN UNDER (9) each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: OLD DOMINION (5) is a promising maiden, which has been placed in two of his four starts to date and he will appreciate a big drop back in class from his latest sixth in the Super Series Final. He was runner up in a heat of that series prior so he will prove hard to beat against this line up. ALDEBARAN ABEL (3) was headed off at the start and ended up being three back on the markers when fifth at Bendigo last outing. He finished seventh in the Super Series Final prior so he is worth another chance. FRITSCH (4) moved up without cover and battled on well for third at Yarra Valley when on debut. He is a nicely bred colt and should continue to improve with the benefit of experience. FARROKH (1) and NO MONEY NO HONEY (8) are both worth thought from their inside draw.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 1,4,5

SELECTIONS: OLD DOMINION (5), ALDEBARAN ABEL (3), FRITSCH (4), NO MONEY NO HONEY (8)

RATINGS: 5/ 3,4/ 1,8/ 7,9

SUGGESTED BET: OLD DOMINION (5) each way

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: It is a very open race for the juvenile pacers with six horses making their debut. ULTIMATE MIKI (8) is awkwardly drawn but is undefeated at the trials and recorded handy time at his latest Kilmore trial success so he is worth following. ALWAYS A SHOWGIRL (2) was runner up twice in succession prior to a seventh at Bendigo last week, where she had no clear run and looked to have plenty in reserve. She is nicely drawn and has the benefit of race experience over her rivals. CARRAMAR TITMUS (3) has had two trial wins and a third at her three trials to date and the latest third was in fast time. She has ability and is worth an investment. TOTALLY STUNNING (1) is nicely drawn and has been placed in two recent trial efforts. She has claims with ULTIMATE SAFARI (9), which is racing better than his form reads.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 3,6

SELECTIONS: ULTIMATE MIKI (8), ALWAYS A SHOWGIRL (2), CARRAMAR TITMUS (3), TOTALLY STUNNING (1)

RATINGS: 8/ 2,3/ 1,9/ FIELD

SUGGESTED BET: ULTIMATE MIKI (8) each way

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: YANKEE RAIN (1) raced without cover throughout and finished second behind Act Fast in the Super Series Silver event on September 18. She has been unplaced at her past two attempts but she strikes a suitable assignment and she is ideally drawn so she warrants respect. MAGNETIC STORM (6) settled midfield and had little room in the straight when an unlucky fifth at his debut. He should have benefited from the experience and looms as one of the leading chances. SLOANIE BEL (3) was showing some ability at the trials prior to striking trouble at her debut performance. She has ability and is worth thought. OLLIES MEDAL (7) is a first starter for trainer David Miles, which has won a trial at Melton and was placed at his latest trial attempt so he cannot be underestimated.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 2,7

SELECTIONS: YANKEE RAIN (1), MAGNETIC STORM (6), SLOANIE BEL (3), OLLIES MEDAL (7)

RATINGS: 1/ 3,6/ 7/ 2

SUGGESTED BET: YANKEE RAIN (1) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: MIRAKURU (6) returned to his peak form at his second run back from a break, where he finished quickly from last to run third behind Courageous Saint in a slick mile rate of 1.54.1 at Bendigo last week. He has a tough draw but a repeat performance will see him go close to winning. WATTLEBANK ARNIE (5) settled three back on the markers and dashed along the passing lane when a big winner at Shepparton at his first run since May. He was shuffled back on the markers after commencing from the inside of the second line and had little luck in the straight at Geelong last time so he is worth another chance. ROCK PHONE (3) had excuses after working very hard to lead when sixth at Bendigo last week. He is a strong pacer and is capable of improving on his numerical form. CLEAR LEFT (1) will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment and should receive every chance so he cannot be discarded.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 1,3

SELECTIONS: MIRAKURU (6), WATTLEBANK ARNIE (5), ROCK PHONE (3), CLEAR LEFT (1)

RATINGS: 5,6/ 3/ 1,2/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: MIRAKURU (6) each way

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: KATUNGA EXPRESS (7) is returning from Tasmania and hasn’t started since May but he was impressive at his trial victory over Letsrockletroll at Bendigo last week so he must be rated highly. He has only missed a place once in eight starts to date and he recorded a mile rate of 1.54.7 when he scored at Shepparton on April 05. SHAZZA LOVE (3) is working into some form and will appreciate her best draw for some time. She finished off well when a distant fourth behind All Blazing Guns in a slick mile rate of 1.53.5 at Geelong last outing. DANGER PLAY (5) is resuming since June but she was an impressive trial winner at Shepparton recently and should give a bold showing. MIKI MARK (4) sustained a long run to win nicely at Kilmore last outing and is capable of showing up without surprising.

EARLY SPEED: 2 (possible leader), 5,7

SELECTIONS: KATUNGA EXPRESS (7), SHAZZA LOVE (3), DANGER PLAY (5), MIKI MARK (4)

RATINGS: 7/ 3,5/ 4/ 1,2

SUGGESTED BET: KATUNGA EXPRESS (7) to win

Race 9:

OVERVIEW: KAOTIC FLAIR (7) has ability when she is able to put it altogether and should be competitive against this line up. She galloped at the start and lost her chance when unplaced in a semi-final of the Super Series last outing. MYRTLE VALE (4) began well to trail the leader and worked into the clear at the 300m when she battled on well for second behind the in-form trotter Bouttika at Bendigo last week. She has the early speed to obtain a prominent position and should go well. JESSICAS STORY (3) won a trial at Bendigo prior to finishing second at Ararat on Sunday. She possesses early speed and should be prominent throughout. ABBIE (1) didn’t have much luck at Bendigo last outing and is a possible improver.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (likely leader), 4

SELECTIONS: KAOTIC FLAIR (7), MYRTLE VALE (4), JESSICAS STORY (3), ABBIE (1)

RATINGS: 7/ 3,4/ 1/ 2,5,6

SUGGESTED BET: KAOTIC FLAIR (7) to win

Race 10:

OVERVIEW: THE AFRICAN QUEEN (1) settled midfield and worked into third behind Foresight and Soho Margarita in a stronger race at Bendigo last week. She is ideally drawn and should have benefited from the experience so she must be rated highly. INTO THE HARKNESS (6) trailed the leader and almost got up to defeat the handy pacer Free To Play at Charlton three starts ago. She hasn’t had much luck as the popular elect at her past two attempts and is worth another chance. SALSAWITHSIERRA (7) ran a game race for second after making an early error at Yarra Valley last week and is a winning chance if she delivers a fool proof display. REASON TO SCREAM (5) ran a reasonable race last outing and is a minor place hope.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 6

SELECTIONS: THE AFRICAN QUEEN (1), INTO THE HARKNESS (6), SALSAWITHSIERRA (7), REASON TO SCREAM (5)

RATINGS: 1/ 6,7/ 5/ 3,4/ 2

SUGGESTED BET: THE AFRICAN QUEEN (1) to win
