Bendigo, Wednesday 31 July

Form Analysis by Craig Rail

Race 1:

OVERVIEW: MY WAY (7) progressed forward to race without cover and battled on fairly well for fifth ($2-30 fav) at Cranbourne last outing. He scored at Warragul on June 10 and is more versatile than most in this field so he is worth an investment. HES LETHAL (4) finished off well from a rearward position when fourth at Shepparton last week. Considering the final half was run in a slick 56.8 seconds, his effort was meritorious and he should be competitive again. GEMAEDDE (3) also picked up good ground from a long way back at her latest appearance and is not without a chance. STARZINHEREYES (6) possesses early speed and has claims along with OH NO NEVER AGAIN (11).

EARLY SPEED: 6 (likely early leader), 1,2,7

SELECTIONS: MY WAY (7), HES LETHAL (4), GEMAEDDE (3), OH NO NEVER AGAIN (11)

RATINGS: 4,7/ 3/ 6,11/ 1

SUGGESTED BET: MY WAY (7) each way

Race 2:

OVERVIEW: JUMPINGJOY (7) is a speedy filly that will appreciate a drop back in class for this assignment. She finished off fast to win in a mile rate of 1.56.4 at Melton on July 05. LILS NIGHTMARE (5) finished off boldly from midfield when a close second behind Hidalgo last week. She is racing consistently and deserves to break through for a win. NINEDOLLA TOASTIE (4) is resuming since March 2023 but she showed ability in her four starts last preparation and has performed well enough at the trials with a second and a fourth to her credit to suggest she can be competitive against this line up. SHAWAMI LASS (1) is perfectly drawn to suit her racing pattern and should give a forward showing.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely leader), 4,5

SELECTIONS: JUMPINGJOY (7), LILS NIGHTMARE (5), NINEDOLLA TOASTIE (4), SHAWAMI LASS (1)

RATINGS: 5,7/ 1,4/ 8/ 9,10

SUGGESTED BET: JUMPINGJOY (7) each way

Race 3:

OVERVIEW: THE CHANCER (8) will appreciate a decent drop back in class for this assignment and appears to be a good value bet. He hasn’t had much luck with the barrier draw of late and he settled in a rearward position when unplaced behind the smart pacer Fighter Command (won again since) last outing. KOMODO (3) returned to winning form with a big victory in a mile rate of 1.56.9 at Melton last outing. He possesses a powerful finishing burst and he ran home in brilliant final sectionals last outing so he must be included amongst the leading chances. OZZIE PUNTA (9) won at his only start over the staying distance so he might be a bit more adaptable than most of his rivals under these conditions. He galloped at the start when unplaced at Mildura last outing but has performed nicely at the trials since with a second at Bendigo last week. HITTHEROADJACK (6) and JOHN MCLEAN (7) are both worth thought despite drawing awkwardly on the front line.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 5,6,7

SELECTIONS: THE CHANCER (8), KOMODO (3), OZZIE PUNTA (9), HITTHEROADJACK (6)

SUGGESTED BET: THE CHANCER (8 each way

Race 4:

OVERVIEW: ALL BLAZING GUNS (10) began very quickly to lead, rolled along at a genuine tempo and battled on well for second at Hamilton on July 10 then backed up with another big run at Melton on Friday night. He is poorly drawn but he is a speedy type and should be competitive against this line up. JILLIBY SORRENTO (7) is a first starter for trainer Paddy Lee, which finished off quickly to win a trial at Terang last week and must be kept safe. MARLO MAREAU (4) has been promising a win for some time and has been finding the line nicely so she is worth a ticket each way. VINCI LOMBARDI (8) has been placed in four of his six starts to date and has claims along with the debutante ROLLWITHARTY (9), which finished second at a Melton trial effort last week.

EARLY SPEED: 6 (possible leader), 4

SELECTIONS: ALL BLAZING GUNS (10), JILLIBY SORRENTO (7), MARLO MAREAU (4), VINCE LOMBARDI (8)

RATINGS: 10/ 4,7,8/ 9/ 3,6

SUGGESTED BET: ALL BLAZING GUNS (10) each way

Race 5:

OVERVIEW: COASTAL DRIVE (11) produced a top performance after working hard when third in the Sapling Stakes then followed with a second behind Rumpelstiltskin where he was taking on older horses at Melton. He is back to racing against his own age group now and will prove very hard to beat. SEATHESTARS (8) made a good impression at his debut when a fast finishing second behind Captain Moore. He is a nicely bred colt and appears to have a promising future. TUPELO (7) is a first starter for trainer Russell Jack, which produced a tidy display at a Shepparton trial effort last week and is worth following. GUARANTEED END (2) followed several handy trial performances with a debut second at Melton and should be competitive from her good draw.

EARLY SPEED: 3 (possible leader), 6,7

SELECTIONS: COASTAL DRIVE (11), SEATHESTARS (8), TUPELO (7), GUARANTEED END (2)

RATINGS: 11/ 7,8/ 2/ 9/ 4

SUGGESTED BET: COASTAL DRIVE (11) to win

Race 6:

OVERVIEW: THEANSWER (3) won the Gold Chalice at the beginning of the season and should be ready to strike winning form after having two starts back from a spell. She trailed the leader when second last outing but the winner Best Deal is very smart so she is capable of going one better here. DELIGHTFUL CHARM (6) appears to be very well graded in this event and looms as the logical danger. She finished second behind the very smart filly Sweetnikkilou at her latest attempt. DIDAFULLONEEIGHTY (4) finished off well for second behind Keayang Blue Jeans at her latest attempt. She is meeting a couple of handy performers here but she is working her way up to a win. YOU BEAUTY (8) may be shuffled back on the markers from her awkward draw on the second row but she is racing too well to dismiss.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (likely early leader), 2,3

SELECTIONS: THEANSWER (3), DELIGHTFUL CHARM (6), DIDAFULLONEEIGHTY (4), YOU BEAUTY (8)

RATINGS: 3,6/ 4,8/ 1,2

SUGGESTED BET: THEANSWER (3) to win

Race 7:

OVERVIEW: KEAYANG GUCCI (3) is still learning but she has a lot of potential and will take beating if she can deliver a fool proof display. She chased hard when a game second behind the top mare Susan Is Her Name at Melton last outing. YOU NO ILL BE LATE (9) commenced from the tough handicap of 30m and ended up being without cover so he had excuses at his latest sixth. He led throughout at a Melton trial victory last week and should go well under these conditions. MY HIGH PEAK (1) is stepping up in class but he produced a dominant display after racing on the outside of the leader throughout when he scored at Bendigo last outing. He is a tough type and should give another forward showing. AARDIES PEAK (7) has ability when she can put it altogether so she cannot be discounted.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 4,5

SELECTIONS: KEAYANG GUCCI (3), YOU NO ILL BE LATE (9), MY HIGH PEAK (1), AARDIES PEAK (7)

RATINGS: 3/ 1,9/ 5,7/ 3,6/ 2,8

SUGGESTED BET: KEAYANG GUCCI (3) to win

Race 8:

OVERVIEW: EFFICIENTLY (5) won her Maiden event very comfortably before taking on much harder opposition at her past two attempts. She galloped away from the standing start at Stawell last week when a creditable fifth last week and she appears to be beautifully placed under these conditions. DESTRIER (2) was resuming since August when third behind Aldebaran Campbell at Bendigo. He trailed the leader and was held up for momentum on the home turn when fourth ($1-28 fav) at his latest attempt so he is worth another chance. COL DU GRANON (4) is a fast beginner and has been racing consistently against similar opposition so he is worth an investment. JUDIELLE (3) ran a better race last time and is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 4 (likely leader), 1,6

SELECTIONS: EFFICIENTLY (5), DESTRIER (2), COL DU GRANON (4), JUDIELLE (3)

RATINGS: 2,5/ 4/ 3/ 1,6

SUGGESTED BET: EFFICIENTLY (5) to win

Race 9:

OVERVIEW: CARLA PIXIE (5) is a juvenile filly taking on older horses but she appeared to be very sharp at her Australian debut victory, where she scored by a large margin and she had a good record in New Zealand so she should prove hard to beat again. JACK SPRAT (8) was resuming since May when he battled on strongly for second behind Link In Bio in a stronger race last outing. He should be fitter from that run and is worth following. LOTS OF CHANGE (1) worked forward to find the lead from the outside of the front row and tried hard for third at his latest attempt. He is ideally drawn and should be in front for a long way. JACKOFALLTRADES (3) is a tough type and won comfortably at Ballarat two starts ago so he is not without a chance.

EARLY SPEED: 1 (possible leader), 5

SELECTIONS: CARLA PIXIE (5), JACK SPRAT (8), LOTS OF CHANGE (1), JACKOFALLTRADES (3)

RATINGS: 5/ 1,8/ 3/ 7/ 6

SUGGESTED BET: JACK SPRAT (8) each way
