Stipendiary Steward – Harness Racing SA

Harness Racing SA Ltd (HRSA) is responsible for the control, development, and promotion of the South Australian harness racing industry. The HRSA Board is strongly committed to the integrity function in South Australian harness racing.

HRSA is seeking applications from suitable individuals who have the attributes to fill the position of a Stipendiary Steward. As a Stipendiary Steward you would assist with overseeing the reputation and integrity of harness racing within South Australia. The successful applicant would work with and answer to the Chairman of Stewards who is responsible for the control of all racing activities at over 120 harness racing meetings in a calendar year.

The successful applicant will need to undertake the following duties –

• Manage the supervision of harness race meeting and official trials in South Australia
• Regulation and administration of harness racing in South Australia in accordance with the Australian Harness Racing Rules and current legislation.
• Assist with investigations and appeals, stable and track inspections, and general administration duties.
• Effectively mediate between conflicting parties and handle conflict situations with authority.

Individuals who apply for the position should have the following skills -

• Computer literacy, including MS Office and database experience, along with good oral and written communication skills.
• A strong work ethic and ability to work well under pressure
• A satisfactory police clearance, less than 12 months old before commencement and a current drivers licence.
• Good interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work autonomously or in a team environment.

The role requires evening and weekend work and on occasions Public Holidays, and offers an attractive remuneration package reflected by the persons skills and experience.
