QBRED

Racing Queensland (RQ) are currently compiling the updated terms and conditions for the 2025 QBRED Incentive Scheme. Full details will be provided to owners and trainers soon.

In terms of QBRED pay-ups the situation remains similar to last year, that is:

  • Invoices for QBRED 2YO Series Fees (2025 2YO’s) will be automatically raised and distributed to all owners of a QBRED eligible horse.
  • For horses aged 3YO or older as of January 1, 2025 that have not previously been paid up by way of Series Fee, application must be made by the owner by way of providing a completed nomination form or contacting RQ before an invoice is raised.
  • For foals born in the 24/25 breeding season the QBRED Foal fee will be automatically invoiced by RQ to the breeder of any QBRED eligible foals. These foal fee invoices are likely to be raised in bulk approximately April 1, 2025.

Payment details:

  1. Invoices for the 2YO Series Fee will be generated from December 1, 2024 with a payment deadline of February 28, 2025.
  2. Applications for QBRED nominations of a 3YO or older horse not previously paid up for QBRED must be received by December 1, 2024. The payment deadline of February 28, 2025 also applies.
  3. If you do not wish to pay a 2YO horse up for QBRED please contact Racing Queensland and your invoice will be cancelled.
  4. Once the payment deadline of February 28, 2025 has elapsed RQ will review any outstanding QBRED invoices that are unpaid. At this time RQ will begin the process of cancelling QBRED eligibility of each horse where payment has not been received.
  5. Payment for a QBRED Foal fee must be made within 12 months of a foal’s date of birth. Failure to pay within 12 months of birth means the QBRED eligibility of this foal will be forfeited for the life of the horse.

NOTE: Racing Queensland accept no responsibility for invoices not raised or that are not delivered. In all cases the onus is on the owner to ensure their horse is QBRED eligible and the appropriate QBRED fees are paid by the advertised deadlines.

Participant Welfare

Racing Queensland acknowledges that harness racing participants can at times be subjected to the pressures of public scrutiny, financial hardship and other significant pressures which can result in feelings of depression, helplessness, distress or despondence.

Racing Queensland has a free and confidential counselling service for harness drivers/trainers and supporting workers.

The service provides up to four (4) free confidential counselling and/or coaching sessions.

Stable Returns

Trainers are reminded all stable returns are to be lodged via HarnessWeb or through the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC).

Should you have any issues in lodging a stable return please contact QRIC either via email licensing@qric.qld.gov.au or call 1300 087 021.

Stable returns must be lodged as soon as a horse comes into your care for the intention of preparing the horse for racing.  This includes young unraced horses in the early stages of being educated by their trainer for racing purposes.

Failure to lodge a stable return will risk a horse being stood down for a period of 28 days as per AHR Rule 119B.  If stood down the horse will not be permitted to race or trial until the 28 days have elapsed.
