Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) conducts the commercial and regulatory functions of the harness racing industry in NSW. Operating under the Harness Racing Act 2009, HRNSW is chartered to operate autonomously of government in managing the strategic and commercial development of harness racing in NSW as a not-for-profit corporate body.

HRNSW has a fantastic opportunity for a suitable candidate to join the team and assist both the Racing and Integrity teams. The primary role of the Futurities Manager is to manage the application and delivery of Breeding and Racing Schemes in NSW.

POSITION SUMMARY

A rare opportunity to join the Racing and Breeding Department of HRNSW has become avaliable. The person will provide wide ranging assistance to the Racing, Breeding and Integrity teams.

Broad Strategies

  • Manage the administration of the NSW Breeding Schemes (this includes the issue of Owner Bonus Certificates, Foal Nominator Bonuses, annual sustaining and withdrawals and daily stakeholder liaison by phone, email and correspondence);
  • Answer registration and licencing queries, inclusive of processing licences, horse names and incoming overseas clearances;
  • Assist and cover the Racing department as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Management of the Futurities and Breeding systems;
  • Administration of racing functions;
  • Supporting HRNSW Participants and associated entities;
  • Providing statistics and analysis for breeding and racing;
  • Backup for the stakes system;
  • Racing Administration;
  • Support multi-faceted work streams.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • Candidates will be expected to have an appropriate familiarity with word processing and a high level of written and spoken literacy.
  • Good knowledge of Spreadsheets and functions in the development of statistics.
  • The role requires liaison with a broad range of harness racing participants, so strong inter-personal skills are essential.
  • Understanding of racing (Harness, Thoroughbred or Greyhounds) is desirable but not essential.
