Eight-year-old mare Queenofdance ($6.50) won her third race of the season when scoring in the Tasmanian Horse Transport Pace (2090m) in Hobart on Friday night.
The eight-year-old A Rocknroll Dance mare had been unplaced in four starts this season, but since resuming from a spell, she has won three races and recorded two minor placings from five starts.
On Friday, driver Hannah Van Dongen had the Wayne Yole-trained mare settled one-out and three-back before improving three-wide from the 750m.
The mare swept to the lead turning for home, and drew clear late to score by 3.4m over Kiavino Stride ($7) and Caruso Star ($4) in a mile rate of 2:01.6s.
“She’s really started to find her form the last couple of starts. She won a trial and then won first up, and it may have been a bit of confidence that she needed,” Van Dongen said post-race.
“It was always going to be a lot harder from the bad draw tonight, but when they ran along, I knew she would have a nice turn of foot, so I wasn’t too worried.
“She really flys away from a stand, so there’s no reason why she can’t win a few more over the summer, and she can get around those tight tracks well, so connections should have a bit of fun with her,” explained the driver.
It was a good night for the female drivers, with Jordan Chibnall driving a double, scoring with Tashs Mate ($3.60 fav) and Lets Go Lucy Lou ($4.20), while Tiarna Ford drove two-year-old filly Smiling Mia ($3.20 eq. fav) to victory in the opening race.
Tashes Mate was the only gelding to win on the program, with six-year-old mare Magic Pebbles ($1.85 fav) and five-year-old mare Svitolina Leis ($4.00) being the other winners.
