Michael Brennan is keeping his cards close to his chest, but one thing we do know is that Pinny Tiger has brilliant gate speed, and they will be using it from barrier one in the Gr1 $450,000 TABtouch WA Pacing Cup this Friday night.
Speaking with trainer Michael Brennan, he did say that the horses natural gate speed will have him leading early, but he wouldn’t spill on if and who he would hand up to in the Gr1 feature.
“It’s a $450,000 race, there will be pressure.”
“But the horse is in great order, and he’s come on really well since that trial, I couldn’t have the horse any better, and he gets a real good opportunity to win another group 1.
“I wouldn’t be swapping him for anything else in the race.”
Pinny Tiger trialled at Pinjarra on the 30th of October after breaking in the $100,000 J P Stratton Cup on Friday, October 25 where he finished fourth in the Group 2.
Pinny Tiger has had the 53 starts now for 20 wins and 14 placings, with stakes just shy of $370,000, with connections now setting their sights on their second Group 1 victory.
The rising seven-year-old claimed the Group 1 4YO Classic in 2022 and finished just 1.6m away from Catch A Wave in this years $300,000 Fremantle Cup before taking out the listed $35,000 Narrogin Cup just weeks later.
Exciting news coming out of the Brennan stable, with Michael Brennan confirming they have purchased three-year-old full sister to Im Victorious by the name of Shes Victorious NZ.
Im Victorious NZ was a winner of 22 from just 34 starts, with stakes in excess of $752,000, which included winning the Gr1 WA Derby in 2012, Gr 1 Golden Nugget that same year and the Gr 1 Fremantle Cup in 2014 before his career was tragically cut short in a racing accident in the 2014 Inter Dominion Grand Final at Menangle.
Shes Victorious NZ is a full sister to Im Victorious NZ by New Zealand standing stallion Washington VC, and has had just the two starts in New Zealand, placing second on June 15 at Ascot Park.
“I’ve got Im Victorious’ full sister ready to go as soon as her paperwork is cleared.
“Shes the last one out of the family, so we had to buy her.”
My Hammer Down NZ will make his debut for the stable in the coming weeks with Brennan and connections securing the gelding after just one start in New Zealand.
My Hammer Down is a half brother to Rockmyster NZ who is in the care of Dylan Egerton-Green, a last start winner at Gloucester Park on October 4.
“He’s had one start for one win in New Zealand and I think he’s very much above average.”
