Lightly raced four-year-old Triedtotellya makes his race track return in Hobart on Friday night in the More Confidence Consulting Pace (1609m).
The pacer won three races as a two-year-old, including the 2022 Dandy Patch.
The Matt Howlett-trained and driven gelding has since been injury-plagued, with his only start since being a win in Hobart in January this year.
“It’s been a frustrating couple of years since he won the Dandy Patch, especially watching others from that race go on to have decent careers since.
“We tipped him out for a good spell after that (Dandy Patch) win, but then he did his tendon the day before he was due to resume his racing.
He then had time off again before he won first up, and then the same injury re-occurred again,” said managing owner Braden Howlett.
The gelding had a trial on 2 September, which he won in slow time, in preparation for his first-up assignment.
“His trial was good, and he has found a winnable race first up, and although he is still a fair way off being fully fit, his class hopefully prevails.
Braden said the family will have several runners bearing a race track return.
“It’s been a couple of quiet months at stables whilst mum and dad took off caravanning again, but there’s a few to come back in next week, including Miss Dutton and some babies who have ability, and Mickey Oh, isn’t far off either.”
Friday’s six-race card commences at 17:30 and will only be shown on Sky Racing 2.
