Kim Prentice joined an elite few in 2022 when he notched up his 1000th driving success, but now he’s joined a different 1000 club, with the successful trainer celebrating his 1000th training success on Monday at Gloucester Park with short-price favourite Soho Skyfall bringing up the milestone win.

With Prentice training debut pre-dating Racing WA’s records, Prentice hit the 1000 earlier in the year, but what’s better than celebrating the milestone moment once? Twice!

No stranger to success, Prentice has experienced some of the most amazing highs on offer in this sport, with Baltic Eagle NZ taking him to New Zealand in 2003, where the pair walked away with honours in the Inter Dominion, pocketing the $500,000 purse at the time.

Prentice both trained and drove Baltic Eagle NZ in the final, with the thrill his biggest one as a driver he mentioned back in 2022.

Baltic Eagle NZ won the 2003 Fremantle Cup for the trainer/driver, and then two weeks later claimed the $200,000 WA Pacing Cup, before heading to New Zealand in late March the same year to tackle the Inter Dominion, winning two heats leading into the $500,000 final.

With Racing WA’s data only dating back to 1991, since that time, Prentice has presented a total of 5112 starters, for 1000 winners and 1401 placings, with three Group 1 victories in that time as well.

Prentices father was involved in harness racing, and with always a few in work, it wasn’t until he met Debbie (Prentice) that he took the leap into harness racing more seriously, getting his first win as a trainer in 1986 with Hezavillain at Bunbury.

Speaking with Prentice in 2022, he was looking forward to getting his 1000th training success, making mention that he wasn’t sure if many had done the double.

Just a few of Kim Prentices impressive Group and Feature wins:
