IT is still almost six months away, but the connections of star four-year-old The Lost Storm are already focused on the $2.1mil TAB Eureka at Club Menangle on September 7.

The gifted son of Captaintreacherous is chasing his second crack at the world's richest race after running below his best when seventh to Encipher in the inaugural running of the TAB Eureka last year.

The Lost Storm resumed from a lengthy break with a brilliant win in the $50,000 Group 3 Melton Plate last Saturday night, taking his record to 12 wins from just 17 starts and $336,939.

Soon after the sparkling win, driver Mark Pitt revealed how the TAB Eureka was his top priority.

"The Eureka is the aim, and everything else will fit around that," he said.

"It's great to have him back; the sport needs exciting horses like him."

"He did that easily tonight and should only be improved by it after so long out."

"He's such an exciting horse, so fast. He did that really easily tonight."|

It was The Lost Storm's first start since having some minor issues and racing below his best when sixth in the Victoria Derby at Melton on October 14.

He is already a two-time Group 1 winner in the Queensland Derby and Vicbred 2YO final.

Pitt revealed an immediate interstate trip loomed for the Emma Stewart-trained The Lost Storm.

"He's heading to Wagga now for the Regional Championships," he said.

The four-year-old will tackle a heat of the 4&5YO Regional Championship series at Wagga tomorrow (Tuesday) week.

Then comes the $100,000 final over 2270m on March 31.
