COULD buzz four-year-old Frankie Ferocious be the second confirmed runner in the world’s richest harness race, the $2.1mil TAB Eureka?

Slot holders across Australia will be jostling to land the Queensland-owned pacer after his two stunning wins from as many starts since joining Jason Grimson’s Menangle stable.

Frankie Ferocious was as long as $100 for the TAB Eureka in January and is now $5 outright favourite.

The son of Captaintreacherous turned plenty of heads on debut for Grimson when he enjoyed a nice run and exploded when clear to brilliantly win the $100,000 Group 2 4YO Bonanza at Melton on Hunter Cup night (February 3).

He took a different role but arguably even more impressive, winning against older rivals at Menangle on Saturday night.

“He came off a sit to win really well at Melton, but it was nice to push him out and do it from the front tonight,” driver Cam Hart said.

“He felt awesome. He was very impressive.”

With Hart seemingly nursing him, Frankie Ferocious, still owned in Queensland by Bill Crosby, cleared out to win by 11.7m.

He ran the mile in a blistering 1min49.2sec with mesmerising closing splits of 52.9 and 25.8sec.

With young WA star Never Ending locked into Rob Watson’s Soho Standardbreds TAB Eureka slot last week, Frankie Ferocious has become the hottest property for slot owners.

Before the TAB Eureka on September 7, Grimson has set his sights on upstaging glamour Kiwi pair Don’t Stop Dreaming and Merlin in Saturday week’s $250,000 Group 1 Chariots Of Fire.

Ferocious Frankie’s 4YO Bonanza win guaranteed his spot in the Chariots.
Grimson has made his name by resurrecting and/or transforming older horses, but Frankie Ferocious is the best young and emerging talent to join his barn.

The gelding had won 10 of his 20 starts and been placed another five times in Queensland.

Frankie Ferocious had also posted a scorching 1min51sec flat mile rate for 1660m around Albion Park.
