Racing continued in Launceston and Hobart last week, where the Tasmanian component of Australasia’s Team Teal campaign kicked off with a winner at each meeting, with Trainer ambassador Tammy Langley training Ima Socialite to victory in Launceston, with driving ambassador Tiarna Ford driving Hes Apples to victory to add to the tally.

At Melton in the A. G Hunter Cup, it was great to see Tasmanian-owned pacer Max Delight run a great race to finish third in Victoria’s premier pacing race.

This week, a bumper 10-race card will take place at Carrick Park on Sunday, commencing at 14:58.

Unfortunately, there were insufficient nominations for Friday’s meeting in Burnie to proceed.

The Stars

Rohan Hillier – drove four winners last weekend, including a treble in Hobart on Sunday. One of his winners was promising mare Lil Ripper, who he also trains, and Franco Promachos to a 16.3m win on debut for visiting Victorian trainer Dean Braun.

Custom Harley – a promising two-year-old from last season was having his first start since turning three, and he made a winning appearance when leading all the way to win a rating 54 to 57 for trainer-driver Heath Woods.

Dylan Ford – had another excellent weekend with a weekend driving double, including Denwen Dancer, who led all the way to win the Discretionary Handicap on Sunday. He also prepared Hes Apples to victory later in the night was his sister Tiarna in the sulky.

Spooky Girl – caused a minor upset when proving too quick for short-priced favourite Royal Appointment on Sunday. It was the seventh career win for the Danny Malone-trained mare.
