Captaintreacherous Progeny Headlines TAB Eureka Starters

SIRING sensation Captaintreacherous is the headline breeding angle of the inaugural $2.1mil TAB Eureka.

Remarkably, Captaintreacherous is the sire of five of the 10 confirmed starters in the world’s richest harness race.

Leading his progeny is Miracle Mile winner and $1.1mil earner Catch A Wave, the $3.80 second favourite. He was bred by Benstud Standardbreds, along with Peter and Zilla O’Shea.

Captaintreacherous’ other runners are: Captain Hammerhead (bred by the Roger Bazley Syndicate) ; The Lost Storm (Justin Baker); Encipher (Tyson Linke) and Captain Ravishing (Sloys Company Pty Ltd).

Just behind him is long-time siring megastar Bettors Delight with three confirmed runners, headed by $1.80 favourite and Queensland pacing sensation, Leap To Fame. He was bred by Redbank Lodge Standardbreds.

The two other sons of Bettors Delight in the TAB Eureka are: Speak The Truth (breeder Stuart Hunter) and My Ultimate Ronnie (Ron and Kay Littler).

Bettors Delight’s influence extends to the broodmare sire side of things where he is represented by four runners, but including two emergencies. The confirmed runners are: Magician (breeder Barry Stewart) and Ripp (Lauriston Bloodstock Pty Ltd).

The mighty Art Major is most influential a broodmare sire with three confirmed runners: Captain Hammerhead, Speak The Truth and Leap To Fame.

Then there are the two runners with the awesome breeding cross of Bettors Delight and Art Major. They are Queensland pair Leap To Fame and Speak The Truth.

The breeders of all 10 TAB Eureka runners will be presented with a replica trophy along with a $10,000 bonus for breeding a starter in the world’s richest harness race.
