AUSSIE Pete McMullen, inspired by the Matildas’ remarkable World Cup campaign, will get his chance for an upset win at the World Driving Championship on the last of four days in Berlin tomorrow.

The Queensland-based McMullen, affectionately known as “Leader Peter”, is in second spot after a second and two fourths from his four drives on day three at Mons in Belgium last night (our time).

Today is a travel day before the ten drivers lock horns in Berlin at Trabrennbanh Mariendorf on Saturday night morning (our time).

McMullen has plenty of work to do 106 points, with Rick Ebbinge from the Netherlands, a runaway leader on 139 points, Belgium’s Hanna Huygens and Finland’s Santtu Raitala enjoyed strong third nights to move into third and fourth spots on 105 and 103 points, respectively.

It was a disappointing third night for NZ’s representative, Blair Orange, who slipped back to eighth spot on 89 points.

WORLD DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS TABLE (after day three of four):

139 – Rick Ebbinge (Netherlands)
105 – PETER MCMULLEN (Australia)
105 – Hanna Huygens (Belgium)
103 – Santtu Raitala (Finland)
97 - Michael Nimcyzk (Germany)
93 - Doug McNair (Canada)
93 - Jordan Ross (USA)
89 - Blair Orange (NZ)
68 - Miodrag Pantic (Serbia)
