On 29 November 2019, the Victorian Racing Tribunal (VRT) considered an appeal lodged by licensed driver Tayla French concerning a decsion of the Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards to suspend her drivers licence for 5 weeks at the Cobram race meeting on 11 November 2019 for a breach of Australian Harness Racing Rule (AHRR) 149(1).
AHRR 149(1) reads as follows:
149. (1) A driver shall take all reasonable and permissible measures during the course of a race to ensure that the horse driven by that driver is given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible placing in the field.
The charge related to Ms French's driving of Trade Whispers during the early stages of Race 1 at the Cobram race meeting on 11 November 2019.
Ms French's appeal was upheld.
