CHLOE FORMOSA and Lumberjack Willie

AS AMAZING as My Field Marshal’s heroics were at Tabcorp Park Menangle last night, they pale in comparison to Lumberjack Willie’s performance.

Just to recap, My Field Marshal upstaged a stellar field in Australasia’s premier speed test by stopping the clock in a breathtaking 1:46.9.

Becoming the first standardbred in the southern hemisphere to better 1:47, the son of Art Major slashed six-tenths of a second from Have Faith In Me’s record established in the 2016 Miracle Mile.

As impressive as that sounds, Lumberjack Willie turned in a sensational performance to capture the Mini Miracle Mile with Chloe Formosa in the cart.

Making her debut behind the mobile, Formosa produced a faultless drive to secure the feature to the delight of her father, popular horseman, Michael.

“We are just so thrilled for her,” Michael declared. “I haven’t won a Miracle Mile, so she’s already got one up on me.

“We were pretty nervous for her as it was her first time behind the mobile, but she did well.

“We have to thank Tori Brickwell and Todd McMillan who own Lumberjack Willie and allow Chloe to drive him.”

Formosa’s victory was also a milestone for the Teal Pants Team, with her win the 150th of the campaign.

Between February 1 and March 11, which doubles as Australian Reinswomen Championship night in Tasmania, each reinswoman is sporting a pair of special teal racing pants to raise awareness and valuable funds for ANZGOG – Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group.
