Superstar mare Maori Time in top flight.
Vendors have invested a record $355,410 in service fees to some of the world’s best trotting stallions to provide an appetizing offering for prospective buyers attending the 2018 Australasian Premier Trotting Sale. With three late entries the sale numbers have increased to 65, equaling last year’s record total.
Headlining the sale is a Muscle Hill half brother to the fastest trotting mare ever bred in Australia or New Zealand, Maori Time Tr.1:54.2 ($392,001) and a half brother by Maori Time’s sire Pegasus Spur to Claudys Princess Tr.1:55.5 ($401,803).
The three stallions most represented with multiple entries are the conqueror of Sundon as no.1 sire of Australasia in 2017, Majestic Son, with eleven, the no.1 Australia-based trotting sire of 2016/17, Bacardi Lindy, with eight and seven-time no.1 USA trotting sire (winners), Angus Hall, with seven.
The world’s current leading sire of trotters Muscle Hill has five entries as has former USA no.1 sire Andover Hall, who sired the 2017 Hambletonian winner Perfect Spirit.
The winner of the 2014 Hambletonian, Trixton, has his debut Australian foals in the sale with four yearlings (out of a total crop of 10), the fastest trotter ever to stand in Australia, Great Success, has four yearlings and Crazed, sire of JL Cruze Tr.1:49.8, also has four entries.
The Swedish-bred European champion, Yield Boko, has three yearlings as does Pegasus Spur, sire of Australasian mile record holder Flying Isa Tr.1:53.2.
Vicbred Super Sires champion Tennotrump, sire of 2017 Australian 3YO C/G Trotter of the Year, Magicool, has two yearlings in the sale.
Stallions with one yearling each in the sale are Skyvalley (sire of dual Vicbred SS champion Aldebaran Eve), former no.1 USA trotting sire Muscles Yankee, Yankee Spider (sire of triple Vicbred SS champion Spidergirl), millionaire and world 3YO champion of five furlong track Dejarmbro, Australian 3YO Trotter of the Year Danny Bouchea, Imperial Count Tr.1:53.4 ($680,857), French-bred Orlando Vici (sire of Un Mec d’Heripre - $2,053,000), the new US sensation Wishing Stone whose first USA 2YO crop this year are averaging $25,000 per foal and Armbro Variable, the sire of 2017 Holmfield winner Four Walls.

Apart from the half brothers to Maori Time and Claudys Princess there are yearlings from mares that have produced dual Vicbred SS champion Aldebaran Eve ($126,878), Cruisin Around ($175,222), Meadow Valley Road Tr.1:56.3, Scratch It Tr.1:56.8, Illawong Byron ($118,070), Jay Bee Flex Tr.2:00.0 and His Bluffen Tr.1:57.4.

The 2018 Australasian Premier Trotting Sale will be conducted at Tabcorp Park on Sunday March 11, the weekend on which the Great Southern Star, Need For Speed Classics and the Lyn McPherson Breed For Speed finals will be decided.
