Action Kosmos won Wednesday's Mountain View Stud Hamilton Trotters Cup by a half-neck over Another Clare, denying Jason Lee a meeting treble by a narrow margin.

Sent out $3.50 with the bookies Action Kosmos secured a lovely run behind the speed throughout for Emmett Brosnan, who guided the Geoff Webster trained seven-year-old along the sprint lane in the home straight.

The son of Sierra Kosmos/Roydon Action prevailed in a mile rate of 2:07.1 for the 2660-metre trip, fending off placegetters Another Clare and Aldebaran Shades.

Meanwhile, exciting local pacer The Fat Man gave the David Lewis camp plenty to smile about by taking out the Life Members Tontine Series Second Heat by 3.2 metres over Major Secret.

The pair were the only runners given a winning hope by punters and they fought out the finish with The Fat Man and John Caldow prevailing in a mile rate of 1:58.1 (last half 55.7).

The Fat Man is by American Ideal out of Atomic Fusion.

The Tontine Finals will be held at Bray Raceway in Ballarat next Friday night (February 13).
