Experience in Racing or Organisation Represented:
Over the past 20 years, veterinarian John Kohnke has become one of Australia’s most experienced and sought after seminar presenters on feeding and problems of racing and performance horses, with over 1000 equine seminars presented around the world. John gained his early professional experience with horses as a veterinarian on the late Colin Hayes’ Lindsay Park Stud in South Australia, which was followed by 19 years as Technical Director of Vetsearch International, Australia’s leading manufacturer of supplements and pharmaceuticals for horses.

In 1998, John completed a new book on Feeding and Nutrition of Horses, published by Vetsearch International, the third, updated and enlarged edition of his earlier popular booklet on feeding horses. It provides hundreds of practical hints and interesting "Did You Knows", as well as ration guidelines on feeding all types of horses.

During 1999, John was the major author of a 260 page book written for the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) entitled "Feeding Horses in Australia, A Guide for Owners and Managers", published by RIRDC. The book provides practical guidelines on feeding horses under Australian conditions on Australian pastures and feeds.

In 1998, John formed his own consultancy and consults to industry and leading trainers, breeders and owners, both in Australia and overseas, on feeding, rations and performance problems.
