Bling It On - talented on and off the track.

HE was a champion on the racetrack and now Bling It On looks set to prove that he will carry his class into the breeding barn.

The royally-bred pacer had his first starter as a sire at Bathurst last Wednesday night in the shape of Finery and the Steve Conroy-trained filly lived up to expectations when she led throughout to score by a neck in 1:59.8.

Finery is the first “True Blue” bred youngster to win a race this season, securing a $3,000 cash bonus for her owners Janey O’Toole and Elizabeth Conroy.

Bling It On’s first crop consists of 63 two-year-olds, while he has 56 yearlings and a further 66 foals on the ground.

Apart from Finery, there have been some promising performances in ‘green trials including Bling It Up, Madrid, Oppenheimer Blue, No Blings, Kudos Mason and Im All Bling.

Bling It On’s dam Alldatglitterisgold was crowned the Australian Broodmare of the Year last week - the third time she had been accorded that honour.

She never raced herself but has been an outstanding broodmare, producing eight winners who between them won 129 races and a massive $3.4 million.

Bling It On’s older sister, Baby Bling was also a champion on the racetrack winning 21 races, including the 2013 Miracle Mile.

An analysis of his performance on the racetrack proves that what Bling It On’s two-year-olds are showing on the track should be of no surprise.

The fastest and richest son of American Ideal was able to capture 18 Group race victories from his 100 race starts, of which he won an amazing 49 races.

His six Group One wins included the Seymour Nursery Stakes and the Breeders Crown as a two-year-old, the Queensland Derby at three years, the Gold Coast Cup at five, the AG Hunter Cup at six and finally, the Victoria Cup at nine, an outstanding longevity throughout a seven-year period.

Added to that list of impressive victories is that he set world records over 2128 metres (1.52.4) and 2240 metres (1.51.5) and is the current record holder for the 2138 distance at Albion Park and Goulburn’s 2240 metre trip.

To highlight the class of this top racehorse and now sire, Bling It On was crowned New South Wales and Australian two-year-old and three-year-old pacer of his year as well as New South Wales Horse of the Year in 2017.
