Australasian Young Drivers
Championships
Annual On-Line
2011 Winner - JOSHUA DICKIE (NZ)
The winner of the Australasian Young Drivers was not decided until heat 7 of
the series. It took a masterful drive from New Zealand driver Josh Dickie to
post his third win in the series to finally overhaul Matthew Williamson (New
Zealand) who had led for most of the series.
In third place after having a
very consistent carnival was Tasmanian Nathan Ford.
In his acceptance speech Josh made reference to the spirit and comradeship
in which the event was conducted.
This was evident in the way the drivers
all got along.
The carnival took in 3 race meetings and 7 heats plus a
host of social and sponsor events. All of the young drivers acquitted
themselves in a professional manner whether it be on or off the track.
Of the Australians both Ashlee and Nathan were able to produce winning
drives during the challenge.
The feedback from the trainers who supplied horses for the racing was all
positive!
Two highlights of the week include being guests of the Ashburton Club for
the Harness Jewels meeting on Saturday as well as witnessing Dexter Dunn
drive his 205th winner for the season at the Ashburton meeting on Monday.
