2009 Winner - DANIELLE HILL (SA)

Danielle Hill from South Australia is the latest Australasian Young Drivers Champion after taking out Heat 7 of the Christian Cullen sponsored series on Saturday night.

In what was an intriguing final heat where up to 5 drivers were genuine chances of taking out the title Danielle steered favourite SMARTY JONES to victory.

Known for his gate speed SMARTY JONES over reached at the start of the race and broke, he was quickly back in his gear and circled the field to find the top within the first ½ a lap.

The three top point scorers going into the final heat (Stephen Reed (WA), Nathan Williamson (NZ) and Brad Cowen (QLD)) drew the back line and were biding their time for one last pronged attack.

Hill was up front controlling the race and probably pinched it with a strong 28.8 third ¼ which had all of her rivals off the bit and chasing.

In the end it was a commanding victory of 7.30 metres in a mile rate of 1.57.4 over the 2100m. 

David Medhurst (TAS) ran 2nd aboard EDEN BURST USA and Dexter Dunn (NZ) claimed the trifecta driving WOBBLY ARCHER NZ.
