2007 Winner - JAMES AUSTIN (TAS)

James Austin became the third Tasmanian driver to win the Australasian Young Drivers Championship in the past five years with a barnstorming drive to finish of the Series in the best possible fashion.

Austin needed to score four more points than leader Trent Dawson to secure the title, with a win the best way of ensuring the crown.

The Tasmanian took off three-wide at the bell with $20 outsider Lucky Moth and set up a race winning break turning off the back straight.

Dawson got caught in the one-wide line and finished sixth, just four-metres form the winner.
